Default How can i use that 'nice girl' image to my advantage?

Ok, so I've decided that I'm most likely going to begin dancing either this weekend or the next. I'm possibly looking to start out with dayshifts. I've also lived in nyc for the past 3.5 months.

Many people have described me as a 'nice' or 'sweet' girl and I'm very soft-spoken, but I'm also a native southernor. I guess I can also come off as meek and easy going as well. I'm still adjusting here, but is there anyway someone with my personality can do at least decent? I'm 23, but have been told I look 12-16 and I'm pretty petite, around 110 lbs.

I've read that you've got to be a bit aggressive here to make money, but do girls with my personality thrive in a strip club environment? And what kind of hustle would be best for my personality, or should I fake some kind of persona just for the job?

I know that's a lot of questions but I'd appreciate any advice.

    Thanks!

Because you look so young, you may wind up getting a lot of pervs. I think you need to experiment a little with looks to see what works for you. Dont come off as TOO nice, though, or else these guys will hustle you. Be sweet and down to earth, but at the same time, don't tolerate any BS.

Yeah I don't think being too nice even flies in ny really, not sure about strip club environment, but OK. Will a school girl kind of look be too much?

How is Sweet tea for a stage name? I cannot think of any others aside from my username.

You could try the schoolgirl look! Experiment and have fun. See what works for you.

For stage names, you can run a search and get some ideas. Idk about Sweet Tea. Customers may make dumb jokes about your stage name and speaking from experience, it can get pretty annoying.

^ I wouldn't try school girl, it tends to attract serious perverts & boundary crossers, which I doubt a new dancer needs.

Personally not a fan of Sweet Tea... sounds a little 'stereotypical dumb stripper' (sorry!). But maybe find another southern style name and play that up. Expect the "southern gentlemen" treatment from your customers but treat them like the big man on campus & flirt with them... that's how I personally picture a southern belle would act, if that makes any sense. The NYC business crowd might like that in the sea of sharks and model types.

You can be 'non aggressive' but still make money. There is a difference between being a doormat and enforcing boundaries, making them pay for your time, etc. Just remember basic hustle rules like only spending 2-3 songs unless they start buying dances/paying for time, don't be afraid to move on or ask for tips for time... read Hustle Hut and you'll get the idea.

True. The fact that she looks so young will attract pervs too.

Hustle Hut is great to read.

Yeah, that alone honestly would make me want to advise her to try to look older... especially in NYC where everything is very predatory.

I tried playing up the 'young' thing and it resulted in having to weed through more time wasters & dudes with serious pervert issues (like, "Can you pretend you're my niece?" level). Money & respectful customers are much easier to come by when you don't look barely legal, IME.

Think of a more normal name. Lots of clubs in Manhattan at least like more normal names. We have dress codes here so you can't usually wear school girl outfit anyways. Use your southern accent to your advantage. Guys here are used to no bullshit girls and I think you will be a breath of fresh air but do not let them take advantage of you. Good luck!

Shy/quiet girl has always worked for me. I guess my hustle style is passive aggressive. Because I know that if I do not get some what aggressive I will loss $$. Once you realize your losing money it makes it easier to move around, sit no more than 3 songs(as mentioned ^.)When I think southern I think of a Bella, Ann, and Carol. I went to Massachusetts told everyone I was from Dallas and I made out very well! I live in Oklahoma now and honestly playing country music here makes me good stage tips on dance shift. I am not sure about in NYC though lol. That might be to southern for them. Good luck and remember to keep a smile on your face it is your best money maker!!!

As others have said there's sometimes "issues" with coming off as too nice or too sweet. Attracts pervs and guys who think they'll be able to take advantage of you (at least in my experience). I'm a small/petite girl, and tried the I'm so innocent routine/deer in a headlight thing when I first started. Didn't work out that well for me that well. Too many customers (and even other dancers) thought I was just so gullible. Eventually I went with more of the naughty/pervy girl next door that morphed into many other personas through the years.

Savannah, Georgia, belle, Caroline, clementine, Virginia, dolly, Adelaide, Dixie, daisy..or double names like Ellie may are all southern belle/country sounding names. Keep em real as opposed to sweet tea

^^ Those are great suggestions for names. I especially like Savannah. For a southern gal I also like Whitney, Austin, or Bella.

Thank you all for the responses. I don't have a lot of money to work with left, but I'm guessing that a swipe of a good red lipstick should help a bit. And hopefully, when money does come (and I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will) I will probably just go to consult professional makeup artist since I cannot seem to figure out how to apply makeup well, even from looking on YouTube.

I've decided that I'm going to skip out on my minimum wage temp job this week, but I have a paycheck coming from it the middle of this week. But hopefully what I may hopefully make will dwarf that check.

Sweet tea did make me chuckle when I realized how silly sounding it is. But I'll probably try one of those names, do some research and decided on one. But I guess tomorrow is going to be spent either bouncing from club to club or hopefully finding one I can audition and perhaps start working tomorrow or Tuesday. I'll also start out with dayshifts for first week. Do clubs even get business on thanksgiving? Or black Friday?

Sometimes dept stores will give you a free makeover..Sephora will do it, I think you must buy something (I bought 10.00 false eyelashes)

Oh cool I didn't know that. I guess I can hopefully get product recommendations off of that.

My stripper persona is the sexy but bratty girl next door. I play the sweet girl at first but I throw in some sarcasm/dirty sex lines to throw them off and keeps them on their toes. It also makes me seem like less of a push over. I look like a young Barbie but without the fake boobs. I have blonde hair, a baby face, fair skin, athletic body and a big butt. To throw off the sweetness of how I look always wear a black choker and usually a black outfit. My stage name is Annie 😊 I hope that gives you an idea to feed off of. My stripper persona is similar to my real self though, so it's easy for me to pull off.

I think Sephora will do your makeup as long as you buy $50 worth of product which is pretty easy. If not they'll do mini makeovers like just eyes or just foundation or just false lashes. You could try that? Some clubs are closed on thanksgiving, call before you go.
