Post Workout Tips? + Living Situation Concerns

Hey, I'm new to this forum Not yet a dancer but hoping to pursue it in the next year or so, hopefully by this summer. Right now I'm kind of overweight, 5'3" and 150-160 Ibs. (150 I believe) I have a small frame though, so from what I know I think shaving off at least 25 Ibs would be a good thing. So, I was wondering, have any of you guys personally been in the same position of having to lose weight before an audition, esp a number like this? If so, how did you lose it? Any dieting tips, exercises, classes? I especially need to work on my glutes

Also, as an aside, I'm currently in the process of moving into my new step-dad's house where my mom lives. I don't think it'd be ideal for either of them to know what I intend to do, so assuming I get the job, I'm unsure of what to say if I'm going out all the time at a certain hour. Good excuses to make (maybe applicable to both friends and family?) And is setting up a separate bank acc a good idea to store my money, or is there another way that's better?

    Thanks!

    1) You will lose weight just by working. But, to be blunt, you are on the heavy side and might have trouble getting hired right now. If I were you, I'd lose about 20 lbs before auditioning. As a newb, I don't think you need the pain of a rejected audition or working somewhere & not making anything.
This all may depend on where the weight is (if you just have a big ass vs. a big gut) or if it's all muscle and you're 'thick' but not 'fat', which some clubs like.
There's lots of dieting tips & exercises in Body Business. For starters, cardio to burn the fat and kick up your metabolism, and cut out sugar & junky carbs. Then you can tweak from there

    2) Work day shift, or say you're a waitress in a nightclub at night (so you can be out until 2 am AND they won't be likely to come visit you). Hell, tell them you're a waitress at the club. That's what I always do.

    3) For record-keeping purposes, and to keep family from finding a stack of cash & questioning it, yes a separate account. Then you have an easy record of your dancing money to pay taxes on, if you need proof of income for something, etc.

Waitress or bartender at a club works as a great cover for most people. It also offers a cover re: having cash.

    1) I definitely agree! I'm planning to lose the weight before auditioning, both for a greater chance of bagging the job and raising my own self-confidence. Right now, I could use the boost lol. I'm glad to hear the same thoughts here
In terms of my weight, I think I have a sort of curvy figure, wide hips/narrow waist and the like, but most of the fat is in my stomach.

Thank you! I'll look into the forum board more for sure. Knowing cardio's a good place to start is really good to know. Cutting carbs is gonna be rough, but I can do it!

    2) I think I might try the nightclub excuse...I guess it might vary from place to place, but I've heard most people say day shift lacks the same degree of potential income? I've never been to a strip club before, so I personally wouldn't know. I hope it works though my mom's very strict, and I'm assuming my step-dad might have an equal amount of problem with me working and being out so late. But I guess we'll have to see!

    3) Got it! Thank you for the comprehensive response

I think it's actually good to start on day shift until you know the lay of the land. Night shift can be overwhelming with the amount of people and things going on.

Very true...I was planning to scope out this one club I wanted to try and audition for anyway, but I'll make sure to check out the mid-day atmosphere as well! Realistically speaking I probably will be overwhelmed just throwing myself right into night shift. Thanks for all the insight

I was thinking about day shift for you as well since you are living with your parents still.

I think it would be best to come to terms that there is a risk of them finding out depending on how much they care. I would recommend just being away from the house as much as you can (just think of the place as a place to sleep and get the heck out). The less you see them, the less they are going to wonder what is happening at night versus what is happening all day long... at least that's my logic with this.

I would even consider getting a part-time waitress job at a franchise (no more than 15 hours or 20) to cover up the stripper job. *maybe even used this as a time to lose weight, and then to build up a reputation as a waitress*... because they wouldn't ask questions if they legitimately know you are a waitress. Then decrease your hours to maybe work 2 or 3 days a week.... and constantly wear the "waitress" uniform back home. Once its in their minds, no questions will be ask. It's not what is happening that matters, its perception.
