I love being able to get all this insight from all you ladies. I been in the game for a while now so im far from a newbie but I'm from Canada and the dancing world is very different.

Yes we do have the racism of course because there several clubs that will straight up tell you we have enough back girls. But living in Toronto there is definitely a mix of races in almost all the clubs. But there are sooooooooo many girls right now in general dancing so the supply and demand concept just influences everything right now. I have been working at a club in Woodstock which is a farm town an hour west of Toronto and I have definitely made some $$$$$$$ over the years as a dark skin black dancer. But its been my home club since 2012 and in general business is dying. I was at a point where im grinding super hard just for 200-300 a night, so I decided to give the club a break. Also went back to school full time so my focus shifted, and so did my hustle lol. I been doing the webcam model thing on the side but maintain a "square" job for now.

Anyways I have worked in the USA on the odd occasion and honestly I love it so much more. I find theres more earning potential but those occasions were short random stints. I honestly want to use my whole summer dancing but Im just so lost and confused as to what state would even be best.

I am not new to dancing but would definitely be new to black clubs and the atmosphere. I visit Miami all the time for vacation so I would not mind spending some time out there but the cost and earnings have to be factored. Plus being new to the black club scene, what club would even be good to start off and not be overwhelmed? I also wondered what Buffalo NY area might be like. Its not too far from home so it could be a more ongoing thing after the summer. Plus I randomly walked in a club called Pharaohs on a friday night and it was pretty popping...well from what I saw on the outside. I have a friend in Dayton that got me in one of the cubs there called cheeks, worked 1 night while visiting the city so didn't get a feel for it to have an opinion. Also have family staying in MD so the DMV has crossed my mind too.

I obvioulsy would like to bank this summer but with the exchange rate I think any club that generally yields steady results would be great. What states and clubs would you girls recommend for a temporary 6-10 week stay?

Glad that I found this thread. I also wish I would have found this thread before my first night of dancing in South Carolina this past weekend - which was my first night ever dancing. I would have been more prepared for the discrimination by customers.

I’m 5’4, 160. Biracial and I wear my hair in a curly fro 99% of the time; so I wasn’t sure what to expect with SC clubs. I ended up working at Pearl’s because I didn’t need to audition and after trying Derriere’s (said they’re not hiring until March) and The Treasure Club (suggested I tone up and come back in March). Honestly my first night dancing was pretty ironic because I was suggested to work in a club that wasn’t Urban but I created an urban experienced for myself because that’s personally what I like.

The club is relatively small w/ one small stage/pole and two other poles off to the side. Lots of rooms for private dances. I was the only mixed thick girl and only girl w/ natural hair. Two other black girls danced but they were tiny w/ straight weave. Two Latino girls w/ long straight hair and 6 white girls. So I would suggest that the club was pretty mixed.

Most of my money came from the young black crowd that trickled in randomly.they made it rain while I was twerking. Majority of the crowd was older white men w/ money but of course none of them were interested in me. Even the older black men were not interested in me which is what I anticipated. The other black girls sold dances to the white crowd but it was probably a combination of their hustle, body type and look.

While I definitely enjoyed the experienced I also felt really uncomfortable majority of the time. I know going forward that I want to dance in mainly urban clubs because:

    1) I won’t have to work twice as hard for half as much - the crowd complained that I wasn’t “aggressive” enough and I thought it was funny because that’s always a grey area for black women.

    2) I’ll actually know the music - this club had a juke box. I don’t mind any genre of music but for dancing I need at least some type of beat and it’d be nice if those working with me could actually dance.

So, yes. I say all that to say: I’ve been told to work at Cheetah’s & Pony because a mixed clientele means “more money” but I think it’s a disservice to underestimate the black crowd. I also feel like my appearance does not attractive a white crowd so id be wasting my own time. And it’s not necessarily about rejection, but more about understanding my target audience and who is attracted to my look.

Just my opinions though. I understand that everyone’s Experiences are different and I respect others opinions, experienced and critiques (except racists).

Myself and two other white girls went to an “urban” club to audition, and were told point blank “This is an urban club so I don’t think you’ll do well here, sorry”. Then he went on to tell us the name of some white clubs. It happens both ways. Th only difference s that we didn’t make a big deal out of it. We get it. Should it be that way? No. But that’s reality. Guys go to that club to see big booty shaking to trap music. Not white girls dancing to metal. I could call it racist and call the news station, and organize protests and strikes, but that’s not going to change the fact that an urban club is going to hire urban girls and not skinny white metal looking girls. I don’t even find it to be racist against whites. I’m adult and realistic enough to understand that the club hires for its clientele. I’m not even a metal girl but I can assume that since I’m white and skinny who was with two obviously metal girls, I got lumped in with them. Big deal. I went on to the next club.tg

It hasnt been my experience that white skinny girls get turned down from urban clubs, they are far more accepting and diverse. Sure, a lot of the guys may not tip you if you can't twerk, but you can still make money. I work at an urban club and I'm about as skinny and blond as it gets. It doesn't really "go both ways" to the same extent, like at all

Actually it does though. You probably don’t see it because you are focused on your own experience.

If you’re saying white girls face the same amount of racism in this industry then..I can’t even entertain this convo
If not then I apologize and misunderstood.

It wasn't racist because they probably didn't turn you down JUST because you were white.. they turned you down cause of your style and body type. I guarantee if a white girl with some ass went in they would hire her. But then take a black girl of any shape or size and alot of white clubs will turn them down. Not because of their style or body type but just on skin color alone. That's racist.

I hate seeing super hot black or mixed girls coming to my club trying to audition and seeing management turn them away. Then this scraggily looking white girl comes in and is hired on the spot. I'm white and have been hired at every club I've been to whether its urban or white. It's ignorant to think we have it anywhere as bad as women of color do.

What you speak of is in a completely different social context. You as a white woman are not surrounded by oppression due to your race in your everyday life in addition to your work. Racism's extension into the adult industry is a mere symptom of a wider system of oppression. Black women (and men) "make a big deal" out of discrimination because it IS a big deal. It's a big deal that we've been collectively fighting to overcome in this country for 400 years...
