It's not a new thing that webmasters who conduct ecommerce get a boost from google if they have an SSL Certificate. But going forward even if you don't have a shopping cart on your site you will be labeled as not secure to all visitors. Browsers Like Firefox and The newest Chrome are stepping it up. Google has announced that sites that require passwords, logins and contact forms will need an SSL Certificate or they will mark your site to all visitors as unsafe. This could be a bad thing because people may think your site has malware or something.
Start the process of securing your websites now so you’re ready for the inevitable come January 2017: visitors asking you why your website is insecure; a percentage of them being alarmed and just leaving, abandoning your website for good

Firefox has already started it. I'm warning you all before your site takes a hit in rankings because it can be very difficult to pull yourself back up once you get on googles shit list. And SSL Certificates are expensive. So start planning.
