    Default technical help please

Hi all, I have been camming on AW for a while using Windows 7. I purchased a new laptop which has Windows 10 on it. I have a Logitech cam, but even using just the internal cam, the CPU is pushed to 100% , even before I go near the Logitech cam. I have updated the drivers ( they needed doing), but this hasn't solved the issue. Can anyone help, please? Thanks in advance

Are you using justcamit? Press Ctrl+Alt+del at the same time then click on task manager. That will show you what uses the most CPU. Justcamit doesn't require much.

It's varying between 18 and 30% , but when I open Just Cam It, it says 100% .

Check windows update hidden away in Local host process

Or is the broadcast saying 70% of useage.

The cpu you have is 1.5GHz. Most of us are using around 2.6GHz.

Your computer specs could handle Justcamit so maybe someone can chip in on what's wrong!

    Can you download cpuz
    http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/cpu-z_1.78-en.exe

And post a screenshot of the cpu as that will give us all the information we need to help.

Its the % that justcamit is using that we need to know most.

I can check the passmark scores and compare the cpus performance against other things etc.

The webbrowser version of justcamit might be a better option. Also at that sort of speed cpu dont have iTunes and stuff on it. It is a slow cpu. So its a case of reducing the load.

Just had a Google and I guess its a
E-240. Single core processor. With a passmark score of 380.

Marinastar has a passmark of 12,000. And mine 8900 for example.

Where did you get this laptop from? We really need the chip specs from cpuz

If you just recently purchased this computer I would suggest returning it. That is a very slow processor and an integrated graphics card will suck up all of your cpu. 4GB of ram is not enough for streaming. Even for adultwork. Like suggested you may want to use the Justcamit Lite the browser version. Not sure what specs you had on the older computer but if it were me I'd go back to that one until I can save up for a stronger machine. Good Luck

I googled the ean number and found this

    http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5498820

Its a duocore e1-7010 with a really low cpu core of its the right one. 950 passmark.

    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?...10+APU&id=2820

As PhD says can you return it. If you in the UK if you can get money back can help find you something more powerful for your money.

Its more a mass market laptop that currys and pc world sell cheap in volume.

If you can get your money back we can find something within budget that has more power. If your happy with second hard again even more power. Does it have to be a laptop. As core 2 quad q8400 pcs go for £100 on eBay with 8GB of ram.

A q8400 will run Streamates broadcast software so it has some grunt.

Just to explain how encoders work.

The cpu has to decode the picture from your webcam. And then convert it to the required format. Encoders dont just take the live picture from the webcam even h265 based ones. So this places a Huge load on the cpu.

Its in effect editing the picture in real time. If you ever made a clip to sell. Its the same sort of process.

So the cpu will run to 100% and be dropping frames as it cant keep up.

The max an encoder should run is 70% total after that the heat the cpu generates will seriously start to kill the laptop.

So right now your trying to cam on a laptop that cost over £200 with a passmark score of 950

The q8400 based pc £135. Obvioisly you need a keyboard mouse and monitor. Has a passmark of 3500
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252578009864

    So 950 / 3500 * 100 = 27% of the power
Other way around and the cheap eBay pc is 368% faster than the laptop
