Default Where can I learn about contouring?

I am proper old school and this whole contouring/strobing/over lining thing just has me completely overwhelmed. I have very small thin lips, am now starting to look in my 30's, and got a fat little snub nose I've always wished was more 'mainstream'. I'm not one fir the over done glamour look but I love this sort of thing https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ov...PwnD6wbfGdM%3A where can I learn how to do that look? Can you go to like a makeup artist and ask them to teach you? I know there's lots of info on YouTube but each little thing seems like it would take an hour. I need a complete 101 on how to do the whole face and in one hour or less. Any ideas for a total noob to this world?

My make up guy in NYC taught me, and I think generally charges 150 for a lesson. I'm pretty sure most make up artists would do that also - just find one whose work you like and hit them up.

Start with a contour powder instead of cream since it's easier and better for your skin. Start lightly and build color blending as you go. If you look older avoid contouring the hollows of your cheeks and opt for a highlight on your cheekbone instead. Use a greyish color powder that's similar to the color of the natural shadows in the contours of your face. Don't use bronzer for contouring, it's orange and shimmery so the orange isn't natural and the shimmer makes it reflect causing the opposite effect of contouring. For the eyes if you're doing a cat eye look like in the picture I find it helpful to draw a scalene triangle and then fill in and connect it with liner. For contouring your eyes always use a transition shade so it's easier to blend and for lashes fake lashes are best for this look

For my skin, I need/ use creams , too dry.
Sephora has a free mini class, (or did)
Maybe Ulta, or a high end Dept store

So all the tips I was going to give you have been shared already. I learned from you Tube but I am pretty good at make up so... maybe if you are a newbit you might need a little more help. I think there are online "courses" as well.

Have you checked out http://www.rmsbeauty.com ? I'm not sure about vegan, but they're organic..I bought their foundation/concealer & love it!
If not, check out some health/vegan magazines, try Whole Foods & Barnes/Noble
Beauty magazines, try those too, for both inspiration & for vegan products

I do not know this for sure so nobody crucify me if I am wrong but I think most powder based cosmetics are mineral base and not animal based. I would think only cream products contain animal products, but is that a thing anymore? Or is it the animal testing?

You can make an appointment with a makeup artist at a MAC makeup counter and they could show you. Ive done that a few times just to make sure my makeup was perfect before a photo shoot or special occasion. You have to spend $50 (or something like that) worth of products, but I found it to be worth it when I did that, that wat you can see the exact products you need and how to apply them.
I really think making an appointment with them vs just stopping by while shopping makes a big difference too.

    In general, experiment!
For your nose, put darker color down the sides, blend.
Put a touch of lighter color down the middle, blend

Urban decay has some vegan products! Also check out Stephanie Lange on YouTube, she only uses cruelty free products and usually specifies which ones are vegan. And ulta should work with you, mine is pretty knowledgeable about what's vegan. As for learning just practice like crazy. When I'm learning a new technique I do it right before I shower so it doesn't matter if I fuck it up because I'm just washing it off anyways.

I am so bad at doing makeup and thought I could never contour but I learned from the same video arielbriel posted and I have that palette too. It's actually alot easier than it looks if you don't get all crazy with it. You just need a couple beauty blenders and brushes. If you don't want a palette just get some darker bronzer and highlighter powders and use those instead.
