Lightbulb Running 10 miles a day challenge

I am going to start running 10 miles a day (5x a week; incorporate 2 restdays if you want), but I am not going to skip a day. 10 miles = 1,000 calories burn *at least*. Today, I ran 6 miles before work, and 4 miles during lunch. Tomorrow I am going to do at least 10 miles, and nonstop until I reach my goal weight. I do it in sessions because I want to keep my metabolism going and reduce injuries. I don't think I can do more than 10 miles at the moment though, because I couldn't head back to the gym after work, felt drained, but I may incorporate other workout until I reach my goal weight.

I feel great right now, I incorporate HIIT, and I run at 1 miles per 10 minutes at least, goal is to maintain it at 8 minutes, but that's tough as hell.

I am going to keep my status on this page as a diary, so I'll be editing it as I go along. My goal weight is 140 lbs.

JAN10= 10 miles, 188 lbs *brutal honesty, I need to get this weight under control*

uh are you in condition to do that? running needs to be built up gradually or you are going to seriously hurt yourself. Also, even if you are in stellar shape, rest days are needed. even marathon and ultra runners take rests. also, if you are 188lbs trying to get down to 140... i am assuming you are not already in amazing condition and that is probably more weight than is healthy on your body so this will be even more hard on your joints and tendons than running already is.

take it from someone who used to run cross country, even working up to running 5k races if done to quickly can result in serious injury.

not related to running, i now have a damaged achilles tendon. its been injured for close to two years and will never be 100%. yes, i have spent time at the physical therapists, and do excercises for my tendon 2x a day. i wish i never injured it in the first place.

maybe instead of trying to out run your diet, try to focus on eating healthy and getting excersise. but dont over train, ESPECIALLY with running. work up to it, keep active and keep fit.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

Also running that much is going to cause your appetite to increase. The more energy you expend the more fuel your body is going to need.

If you're 40 pounds over your goal I'd start out w low impact cardio like swimming or uphill walking. Add strength training to fire up your metabolism, then after awhile do some HIIT.! But watch the joints and start slow.

And Yeah exercise is very important but diet is more so

I agree! I'm an ultra runner and have run a few 100 mile races. I average 10-15 miles a day during PEAK training. Gradually work up to higher mileage and I think it's great that you already split some of your longer runs into 2-3 separate runs to help reduce injury risk.

That seems a lot of miles to start off with but hey, if it works for you and you can stick with it more power to you. If you start feeling run down, reduce the amount of miles a day. Your immune system will lower if your body is under too much stress, physically or mentally. I guess it would depend on how active you were before this. Be careful. Personally I couldn't do this because it's winter where I live and I experience respiratory problems in cold weather. Good luck!
