Default Extensions, wigs, weaves, and hair care recommendations

What are your favorite extensions, weaves, and/or wigs? How do you get your hair looking absolutely fabulous? I want my hair to look flawless more often, and lately I've been obsessed with hair.

Does anyone use Hidden Crown extensions? I've done some research on extensions, and it seems Hidden Crown is the best because it just sits right on top of your head and does no damage to your hair. I 'm wondering how they hold up while dancing though. Anyone have any experience with them?

    http://www.hiddencrownhair.com/

Also, what are your hair care recommendations? What shampoos, conditioners, sprays, and oils do you use to get your best hair?

Also, any tips on hair growth are welcome too! Thanks, lovelies!

There is nothing uglier than looking like you are wearing a wig (in my opinion). In my opinion, the only way to wear a wig is to invest in human hair that matches your eyebrows (but with highlights and low lights in moderation so it doesn't look like a helmet), and it cannot be too thick of hair, or too stylized (and definitely not perfect hair; if it looks like you just woke-up hair, then that's a winner) *then it looks like it's a wig because it stays in one position*, and I would never wear anything but a full lace wig (just one hint of a wig would ruin my look).

To me this is a good wig:

Like the idea of someone thinking I am wearing wig, makes me feel like I am a witch from the The Witches.

For my best hair, nothing beats mayonnaise overnight treatment. And I make sure I get a quality haircut. I don't really mess with hairdyes at the moment, but the ginger look was the one that would get the most attention. (I know no one thought I was a fake ginger! it was a bizarre thing) although I shouldn't had it so light, next time, I will probably go with chestnut ginger. I had to wear green contacts too... or else I look like I want your soul. That's a very high maintenance look, that I wouldn't dare do right now.

Take some hair growth vitamins, massage your scalp often, use deep conditioners, and moisturize hair well for growth.

I have thick curl hair and swear by water based gels like eco gel and a soft 100% boar bristle brush to smooth down edges. Use this gel (or curl keeper gel) also to add amazing curl definition.

As far as wigs. I want answers to that too. I want to try some lacefront wigs but need a natural looking yet affordable brand to try. I really want to do a blond wavy long bob.

    Yea.
Recovering from a botched dye job here.
This's one of my fav's for the scalp, which to me is an overlooked area & most important.http://www.sallybeauty.com//braid-sh...efault,pd.html
    also http://www.sallybeauty.com//olive-gr...efault,pd.html

Also, just started taking this, a liquid vitamin for hair. https://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/p...olecule--240ml

www.kerastase-usa.com - I usually get stuff from this site, when dealing w/damage..they're pricey tho (professional L'oreal hair stuff) but they usually produce results, & on their site you can order the less expensive travel sizes. Or see if there's a salon near you that carrys them

I've also purchased frm this site^ a couple products for hair, s/b here today..
    I've also gone on www.beautyhabit.com
I got a wooden bristle brush I like
    & www.spacenk.com

Ordered a wig http://www.hisandher.com/, they also carry extensions.
I liked the wig, but I can't wear that color & it was a sale item so non returnable

My secret weapon is unrefined coconut oil and raw shea butter overnight masks in my hair. At least 12-14 hours is best, but you can also pre-poo w them for a couple hours to cut down on hygral damage of washing.
Scalp massages are great too for hair growth stimulation
leavng out hot tools as much as you can..I wear my hair naturally straight or I do little braids at night to do a crimped hair look or hair rollers for bouncier curls..but I don't blow dry on hot or use hair straighteners/irons anymore and WOW it's made a difference.
For shampoos I love Shea moisture products ..very natural simple ingredients and makes my hair wicked soft.

Oh wow I never knew about hidden crown extensions, those look cool! I've only done clip ins and tape ins. Both were ok, clips didn't damage my hair because it's very thick and coarse tape ins were just more pricey and more of a pain.
Have you tried half wigs ??

Also, wigs need to be professionally styled/thinned, as they have too much hair. There's also a tool you buy to remove the shine.

The Neesha wig from Outre is thee best. Thick and very voluminous. A win/win/win if you curl it!

Milani also by outre...limit how much you wear this. Outre in general usually has good wigs.

As for my real hair I do a HOT once or twice a week along w vitamins (HSN, B complex, e, zinc, multi)

I used to wear half wigs from the beauty supply store for the club a lot then switched to lace front as my hair from damaged from bleaching it for 10 years. I never went online because I wanted to see them close up. taking your vitamins and not over styling is good for the hair.

you need to get either a lacefront or full lace wig
check out freedom couture on instagram. also check out youtube. you can buy a stock wig and then learn how to customise it on youtube so you can create a natural looking hairline with baby hairs etc

I have some tape in extensions I just have not put them in yet because I need to lighten my hair a bit. I am excited, the quality of the hair is very good.

I used strand in strand extensions in the past, and they were very damaging. I also glued in tracks and did clip ins. Glueing destroyed my hair, clips are good but I hated putting them in and taking them out every day.

Also, my my natural hair is healthy. It is shinier than the fake hair, by quite a bit. I will probably have to gloss the fake hair or something. It is long too but very thin. I do not heat style either, and wash with sulfate free shampoo, twice a week at the most (usually only once a week) and use dry shampoo from time to time.

Whoa I just looked at those hidden crown prices and SMH they are literally the same thing as my extensions except I get three for $100 or $50 each and I have a very hard blonde color to match. Mine are synthetic though and I use them for work mostly but sometimes I'll use them in real life. Unfortunately I don't have the brand name since I threw the box out but as soon as I go buy some I'll put it on here. It's like a huge extension piece which I love because guys can run their hands through my hair as long as they dont touch the very top lol

Also just wanted to add, I thought I was gonna have to order online for my extensions because of the color, but your local beauty supply just might surprise you

Yeah, Hidden Crown is pricey, because they are such good quality, and they are made from real Remy hair. Also, they are thick all the way down to the ends.

When you find out the brand of your extensions, let me know.

I used to only wear a wig for work...cam and later escorting, and now wear one all the time...

A couple things...personally, I find synthetic wigs to be way better for a few reasons... human hair is human hair...when you wash it, you now have to re-style it, it reacts exactly like human hair so if it rains, if its humid, if its windy, it'll get all screwed up, whatever colour treatments done to it will fade, and it will get split ends, start to get puffy and does not look nearly as good for nearly as long as a syntheic wig, which is unfortunate considering it costs waaaaaay more. I had human hair extensions once, and it was a nightmare.

I wear lace front wigs and like the Freetress and Outre brands. They have combs to keep them in place, and are heat resistant up to around 400 degrees, so I can style them any way I want...but, if I just want to wash and go, I can wash and go because its going to always bounce back to whatever shape it was made in after you wash it. I cut all the lace off of the front, and pull my own hair up around the edges, so its next to impossible to tell if its my own hair or not. If I want to do a ponytail or updo, I will also pull hair out frm the back, then put it up. Even on dates when guys are touching my hair they cant tell (though I keep them from putting their hands up around the back cause theyd feel the wig cap at my neck...and nooo pulling, I tell them I worked waaay too hard on my hair to have them pulling on it like that ) I get compliments on the daily and have people asking me stuff like what my hair routine is or how long it took me to grow my hair out. lol

For care, I just swish it in water in the sink with a lil baby shampoo...if Im on a weekend or travel date, I just keep it on and let water run through it with a tiiiny bit of shampoo while its on my head, then take it off, wrap it very tight in a towel to absorb as much water as possible (and to keep it hidden in case he pops in to say hi...super rare but that has happened lol)... After Im out of the shower, I just put it back on, its fairly dry by now. As it fully dries, it pops back into shape. i only brush it when its dry, and dont put any hair products in it, no need...just wash and go, and I brush it often to keep it from tangling, which really isnt much of an issue save for the nape of my neck, that area can be a pain.

For my own hair, the most I'll do to it make sure to keep it clean, brushed and put argon oil on it before I put my wig cap on. When Im wearing my wigs often, my own hair has time to rest from being handled all the time and starts to grow out looking more healthy...I just not wear a wig when Im hanging out at home.

But yeah, Im up close and personal and getting physical on my dates and going swimming (though I'll only use an older wig, not a new every day one for that) and they hold up and look great and look like theyre all mine. Cause yeah, worst thing when wearing a wig is looking like youre wearing a wig.

Id suggest going into a beauty supply shop to try some wigs on..someone there should also be able to help you out if youre lost as far as how to put it on and maybe even help with style and which colour will look most natural / blend in with your hairline better. Then when you find one you like, leave and buy it online. They are always cheaper online!

I think my dad used to use something like that^?
Honestly, it's plastic, it might tangle your hair..using your finger tips w/b better
You don't want to use your finger tips tho? I have a product for the scalp, it's Rene Furterer Astera irritated scalp leave in serum.
When this tweaked bitch worked on my hair, she hurt my scalp too, I've been using the above^, aloe & African Pride Olive Miracle braid spray to ease the irritation
Philip Kingsley makes a scalp mask, I may try that. He's been a certified Trichologist since '53
I want to try his products too, I used a long time ago. http://www.philipkingsley.com/about/...gsley-the-man/

I've been watching wig reviews on youtube. I absolutely LOVE the way this wig looks:

I like the length on her, it's sexy as hell. But I want a longer wig. I'm looking for one that is at least 20 inches long. But damn, that wig looks cute as hell on her, and totally natural-looking!

If you purchase really good hair it will save you allot of money in the long run. My personal favorite and what I wear is our Hottie Extensions Virgin Russian Tape Ins.

The tape doesn't slip at all and the tabs hide really well. I think most girls are used to buying really cheap hair but the best hair in the world like this type will last you 1-2 years or longer. Which is unheard of with permanent hair extensions. You usually are lucky to get a few months out of your cheap typical hair. But that is because 84% of the world has black hair so they take that hair and they bleach it. We all know what bleach does to hair. The good stuff is the super rare hair that usually you can only get from Russia where they have Blonde and Brown's and high quality black hair which blends super good with most textures of hair. When girls come into my shop to get extensions it's the craziest thing. Once I tell them about this hair they don't want anything else and I carry all different qualities of hair from the best slowest gentle processed black hair that has been changed colors. Which is the next best hair next to our virgin Russian hair. Every single time they want the real deal and find a way to make it happen. It is seriously night and day from any other hair you have ever worn. There is no special maintance like the typical hair extensions. You can wash this hair seriously every day and it is going to be still amazing a year from now. If you have any questions message me, I would love to help you get amazing hair your going to love for a long time.

I shaved my head about a year ago after rocking short hair for a while. When I started dancing I used wigs, there was a shop that sold a cute style on clearance that was only 18 after tax. The problem with it was since it was a cheap synthetic wig, it would shed and tangle after working in it all weekend. I was buying a new wig every week. The nice part is you can take it off whenever you want. Once it started growing out a bit I was looking into extensions and other options. I asked around and was recommended the tape in extensions by one of my friends who said she's had a good experience with them. Then I randomly bumped into a girl from my high school at a bar who I haven't seen in years and we both end up talking about how we dance now, which was so funny. She said she had a weave in that her mom did for her, it looked really good. I decided to ask one of my friends who works at a natural hair salon if he would be able to braid my hair since it was kind of short, he was super helpful and told me about shes happy hair. I got my three bundles for around 75 each and had him install them on me. I felt soooo much better than when I was wearing a wig. Then I met a girl who I dance with who offered to sew mine in next time and she killed it! I am kind of addicted now, thinking about getting a longer bundle to mix in next time I get it redone. I've worn clip ins in the past, but I prefer sew in just because there's no worry that it could come out on accident or get it pulled out when guys try playing with my hair. (which i fkn hate)
