Do any of you work for Uber? Thoughts? Good or bad experience overall?

Uber only works depending on your vehicle, things like cost of gas, parts and repair, and maintenance.
In particular parts and repair which are a hidden cost, that can and will put you in the red.

Day time shift or at least a shift before the bars/clubs close, I have heard a lot of good feedback. A friend in ATL worked for them while she had cancer and couldn't commit to a full time job and she did well and it really helped.
I also didn't realize I'd have to upgrade my auto insurance to commercial-grade. Double icky!!

Specially watch out for the tax bracket if it is supplemental income.
This is what people that really work for Uber make.

Airbnb is the only firm that appears to be paying programmers more than $300,000 a year on average, but there are many others who exceed the $200,000 mark. They include Uber ($292,000), Twitter ($290,000), Facebook ($285,000), Snapchat ($252,000), Google ($233,000), Microsoft ($222,000), Apple ($208,000) and Amazon ($203,000).![]()
Sounds like dancing even once a month would be a better use of my time. I didn't realize drivers were ICs.

I drove for Uber once. Not really worth it moneywise, unless you get hired to drive the fancy limo Ubers.
Lyft drivers can receive tips, I don't know how much difference that makes in hourly earnings.

A friend of mine is doing it. She said it earns average $25 an hour. I took a ride with her too.
I like being alone, I just don't like being lonely.

I have signed up on it ( I was REALLY impressed with how easy the sign up was , just have your ID , registration, and insurance card ready to send photographs in and you can do it in one sitting v.s. opening the app again ).
Mine is still pending ( I moved states and my new license only shows 7 months of driving in this state so they need to look at my old state too ).
I used the service in Thailand and was SO IMPRESSED with Uber. It made my transportation EASY there ( usually there would be an issue or language barrier unless you get lucky with a good English speaker ) .
So what about car insurance? Are all of these people paying extra for commercial-grade insurance?

That might be a state-by state thing because my husband did Lyft for a very, very short time and he did not change insurance. I would know because the policy is in my name.

You can drive with just liability as well (I am not 100% sure)... that is not the issue, the issue is what happens when you get in an accident? Which you will increase your exposure to.
Insurance companies will wash their hands with you, and you will be left with a bigger hole than when you started.

No, he did not because they too way longer to pay him than they were supposed to BUT, in fairness they were really new at the time and also the county I live in had some nonsense go down with Lyft and Uber that they were banned for awhile. The taxi companies here apparently have a union but the residents petitioned the hell out of the local gov't. Anyhoo, I think on average he earned between $60 and $120 a day working between 5 and 8 hours. we also live directly between 2 of the biggest places people go out to party in my city, which probaby gave him a lot of easy fares.

Have you looked into tutoring for side money?
