    Default Reset gym routine

I was on a good gym routine, but then fell off the band wagon on Friday leading to Saturday, I had absolutely no energy at all. It was my diet, and I lost a lot of weight, since then I binge on so much Saturday/Sunday/Monday... I think I gained 1 lb of real weight.

Now obviously, this is bad! But I think it was needed, because I was on a water fast for five days. Trust me, even going up and down the staircase was a chore, and I was running 6-10 miles a day.

I feel bad, but I feel like I can still redeem myself since it's only been 3 days....

Anyone think this is pretty much starting over? Or it's normal???

Well if you stop eating(which is what a water fast entails) and workout excessively(running 6-10 miles a day, which I honestly don't know if I even believe that), your body is going to want a lot of calories and rest so it can recover. You're putting it under too much stress. I don't understand why you're saying gaining 1lb is so awful, asking if this is all normal and asking if it's hopeless and if you need to start over because you stopped abusing your body for 4 days? This feels like trolling for a reaction or something, which if it is that's unfortunate since we have women on here that have struggled with eating disorders.

I have other reasons to run that much (no regrets running that much; I accomplished my other goal), and lose the "water" weight. That's not even the point of my thread, but rather background info if anyone can relate to quitting and then getting the motivation to go back into the gym. Now, my only reason to run is to lose weight, and my motivation went down... quite sad in fact.

I'm struggling with getting motivated with diet/exercise, but from past experience, I can say this: in the long run, a balanced lifestyle is the only way to maintain progress. I juice fasted once for 7 days and lost 10lbs; it was great at the time. But then I binged for ten days afterwards and didn't maintain any weight loss. So that was actually 17 days of no progress. That same 17 days could've been spent eating a balanced diet, exercising, and attempting a 1-2lb weight loss/week. And I would've come out ahead. So think about what your long term goals are and what kind of lifestyle you'd like to have in five years, and put that lifestyle to action today. Doing anything to excess (including exercise and healthy eating) is bad for you/your body/your well-being in the long run, no matter the short-term accomplishments.

Thank you, that's great wisdom. I wouldn't say it was totally wasted, but that's good logic there. It's like study 12 credits a semester every semester, versus crashing after doing a 20 credit load and never going back to college because it was too hard *or something*. It's like a mathematical equation, "force= mass x acceleration".

I am going back to the gym this morning.... that's the only way I can get back on track.

What I did binge on was pretty healthy though... like fruit smoothies without any milk. They were delicious.

It is necessary to have a routine for exercises.

I have water fasted and I have no idea how you managed to run 6-10 miles/day after five days of only water. This sounds like some Guinness Book of World Records level dedication; have you ever seen Naked and Afraid?

Anywaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, go on a TDEE calculator website and figure out how many calories to eat. Stick with that rather than borderline hospitalizing yourself. Your family, your fans, 99.99999% of Stripperweb, etc., would much rather see you with a few lbs to lose than getting injected with IVs in the emergency room because you wanted to be over the top and reach your fitness goals in a week.

i used to say 'oh i binged/ate crap today, i might as well not even go to the gym'. but now when i have a cheat day/meal i work out my gluten since that's what i'm trying to grow.

you need to feed your body. a lot of time the cardio bunnies/no carb girls don't get the results they really desire because the starvation leads to bingeing or they are skinny fat (or no muscle tone). i think weight training and cardio as a combo with really targeted nutrition will give you better results. feed your body and your brain!
