Thumbs down Deja vu clubs >:(

So, I've been working at a Deja Vu club for a while now. In our contracts it states that we cannot charge below $20 for a dance, but there is nothing about charging above that, so I regularly charge $40 for dances. This week, they started doing a "special" ONCE AN HOUR for dances to be 2-for-$30. They make us all get up, go on stage and try to hustle customers. In our contract it also states that we choose to work how we want to work and that we are *never* obligated to participate in ANY club "promotions" (which is what a 2-for-$30 is!). We were called back into the dressing room and told that our contracts stated that we are obligated to do this. I figred I must have read the contract wrong, but I get home and what do I see???? The exact opposite of what mgmt told us. I'm very confused and annoyed. We are being forced to get up on stage once an hour to parade around and participate in a more expensive equavalent to DOLLAR DANCES. This has already LOST me money. I could be making $80 from those two dances, but instead I am making THIRTY. They ALSO did a special where they extended VIP time by 33% without any extra charge to the customer or compensation to the dancer.

What would you do? Is there a way I can turn this into a hustle? I'm not interested in doing 2-for-$30, but I'm also not interested in finding a new club as we literally only have 2 options in my area and one of those options isn't that great compared to this one.

    1. You don't have to do promos--don't ask anyone to dance or if someone asks you, you can say you just need a break for a minute
    2. I work for Djv and my contract does say you have to participate in promos
    3. Djv is a corporation, contact corporate if you're very bothered
    5. If you do all the promo dances in a night--it's probably 5, once an hour from 8 or 9, and my club has a diff promo than you--you will make over $100. So sitting out the promo bc yr too good for it is kind of dumb.

I'm VERY hot, I upsell all of my dancer, I'm top earner. I do the promos, bc I realize there's opportunity to make money and it's better to make some than make none.

^ I don't really understand your attitude, it's okay for me to be pissed about this, I am just asking for insight, not belittlement. Thanks.

    1. mgmt literally said we *have* to do the promos, and if we are seen not getting dances that we could be fired.

    2. Mine says the opposite.

    3. I'm upset about the fact that I am losing money ($400 is what I would be making otherwise doing 10 normal priced dances) on a promo they are forcing me to do.

I was not snarky or rude in my OP, I am coming at this from an angle of frustration because from my point of view I am losing money and they are breaking my contract. It is *perfectly* understandable for me to be upset about this.

I'm being matter of fact with you. If you are asking for advice, that's my advice. Deja Vu is not going to change anything to accommodate you other than their contract so...you can accept it and make money or don't and let it slow your hustle. You're not losing money. After you pay house you can only gain.

Wait so if you're seen not doing dances during the promo, y0u can get fired? That seems...excessive. Just go out on the floor and pretend to sell a dance, then get on with your day.

Yep. If you're not seen hustling each and every customer you can for a dance, you can get fired. My contract specifically states that we are NEVER obliged to participate in club promotions or advertisements, but mgmt keeps saying that we are contractually obligated to participate in promos. I'm just like bitch where??? In what realm?? I really wouldn't be bothered by this if they did it once a night or once a week, but they do it ONCE AN HOUR, so we are literally yanked away from any customers we are trying to hustle out of quality money to get up on stage like cows at an auction and forced to hustle low quality, cheap customers. It fucks with my hustle because I do not do discount dances unless they are 3-for-$100s or VIPs. My dances are $40 and most guys pay that price, I also offer no contact dances for $20, but most guys want contact so they pay $40 per dance.

I'm thinking of working with it and offering 2-for-$60, but then it's harder to hustle more out of first-time buyers if his first dance with me is a promo dance. "The promo is $60 for 2 contact dances and $30 for 2 regular dances" and then attempting to upsell that 2-for-$60 into a 3-for-$100 sounds like a ripoff immediately after just getting a discounted dance special. I make my money upselling. How can I word it differently? My sales pitch is usually "I do 2 different dances, one is the contact / VIP/ naughty dance which is $40 and the other is the no contact/ boring/ regular dance which is $20" and then they say "VIP" and then I upsell to a 3-for-$100 or go to VIP. I am not willing to lower my prices, in fact I am thinking about increasing them from $40 to $50 a dance but still offering a 3-for-$100. I make a LOT of money doing 3-for-$100s. So, the club is literally undercutting me by offering a promo and illegally making me participate, because I make a nice chunk of my money on 3-for-$100 and $40 dances. So, when the club is making us do 2-for-$30, they are forcing me to undercut myself, when it says in our contracts that if girls are caught underselling they could be fired but that we can upsell and accept any tips that we want on top of that and the club can do nothing about it, so it's fine when the club does it but not the girls? I'm just not okay with that, the club has nothing to lose by illegally forcing IPEs to participate in cheap dance promos, except quality customers, because quality customers do not go to places that offer insane discounts like this, it's just going to attract cheap ass mfs. They also take $5 on top of the promo, so by participating in the promos, I am essentially doing a dance for five dollars.

Not to threadjack, but I used to work at a club in Atl that did 2 for one night of the week all night long. And Atl dances are only 10 dollars. So, yeah, 2 dances for 10 bucks the whole shift. fucking ridiculous.

So how long do these promos last? Because if you HAVE to be seen talking to customers, you better brush up on your dirty joke collection. Do that for a few songs (or however long the promo lasts), then go back to your regular hustle?

We have this too at my club. Usually I'll just walk on the stage & just hustle per usual. I hate it,but it doesn't bother me THAT much. If I do sell a promo dance,I like to bring them to a room & then just upgrade to a VIP instead of the promo. Our LD room isn't private & gets crowded so they usually like I bring them in another room. So instead of getting $30,I get $150 or $300...whatever room they bought.

I'd put my own spin on it & scam the club out of money since they're scamming you. I used to work in a DV club a few times & another corporate type club like that & this is what I did: You can say ok we have this deal of 30(or whatever cheap price they're pushing for) for 2 songs & say but it's G rated & boring, however you can grab this deal as part of the promo & get a vip 4 song deal for $150-$200 and tell them that it's much naughtier & more private than the other deal going on, then if you have to tell a host or whatever how many youre doing say the 2 for whatevr it is then just pocket the rest. LoL I ended up having to do this shit just to walk with money bc of those stupid cheap promos they did. I pocketed so much extra money they never knew. Best part was that there wasn't anything much different I did in the "vip" than the reg dance just my wording. Figure out the pricing tho if you're gonna do it so that you'll end up making way more even if it's just $50-60 extra from 1 or two promos you do. Hope that makes sense. Good luck.

P.s Honestly if I were you I'd look for a dive or a better club that doesn't do those stupid promos. It never did anything positive for my pocket & gave me endless headaches from feeling like I was being "pimped" by the managers each shift yuck.
