    Default Commuting

How far do you commute daily to work and back home?

Mine takes me 45 min up to an hour, or sometimes over an hour. Going to work. Depends what time I leave and traffic.

Going back home 40-45 min. My club demands 8 hours, but sometimes I leave after 6 or 7 hours.

I am getting way too exhausted by the end of the week.

I just started at a new club and my commute involves two buses and a subway. It takes me about 1.5 hrs each way.

I just started so I have energy to do this but three hours everyday on public transportation is going to get old eventually. Though I'm glad I can read or nap instead of having to drive.

People tend to be more awake and alert commuting during the day/rush hour than when it's dark with no one on the road. As soon as it's dark your body starts to produce melatonin which explains why even if I've gotten a ton of sleep, the drive home after work seems draining. Also most people during the work week have fixed schedules so their circadian rhythm is better unlike most dancers which would explain why she is exhausted over a typical commute. Actually I think this applies to anyone who works atypical shifts in general not just dancers.

I live in the land of crazy traffic so it'll take me 2.5 hours to get to work. The only way to avoid this is by showing up super early or super late to work. Driving home is only 1.5, hours, but I'm telling you no matter how fast I drive, driving on that empty freeway feels way longer than the 2.5 hours in traffic. So I usually try.to stay a few days in the city.

However in new york, one of my commutes would be an hour on the subway and then 15min in a cab home -_- you had to be at my club by 8pm so taking a cab to work was out of the question. Smh I do not miss that

Just curious if any night owls feel the same way. I didn't have this problem before.

I'm a natural night owl, and years of working nights has worsened my body's natural tendency to stay up until at least 4-5am (sometimes 9am if my brain is being a real arsehole), and sleep in until 2-3pm (sometimes as late as 6-8pm if my anxiety/depression have been triggered). I've been doing it for years so I was like "whatever, #StrippaLyfe", but my 3 months working a day job around Christmas, where I was forced to be in bed by 11pm to get up at 6am, really highlighted how much the nightwork was fucking with my body and mental health. Even though I was utterly exhausted, doing 60-hour weeks in Christmas retail, battling THAT flu that did the rounds this season, I *felt* weirdly better. I was productive during the daylight hours! I was sleeping during the night hours! I was having regular conversations with regular people as my regular self!

Driving in traffic suuuucckked, but I'd put on some phat beats and jam with some car karaoke, and in a weird way it was kind of nice to be sharing the world with other humans, yanno? Somehow that 45min drive from dayjob didn't feel any worse than the 20min uber I get from the club. The money fucking sucked, and I missed being able to tell shitty customers to go fuck themselves, but holy balls having a healthy circadian rhythm makes a world of a difference to mundane tasks like the workday commute.

My commute is about an hour each way. I just listen to some classic rock while driving to keep me sane.

45 minutes usually but I can get home in 30 at 4am. I don't drive though. I take a cab or the train.

I'm lucky, it's about a 20 minute drive to work for me. My last club was only like 5-10 minutes away, literally right down the street from my place. I've done 1 hour and 2 hour each way commutes before and could not imagine doing it multiple times per week. I really hate driving though.

Im not allowed to drive due to health reasons but at my first club it would be 1 1/2 hours there by train then 3 hours back by bus but the travelling was exhausting and the club was a dive where I barely earned anything so I moved to a closer club and now I travel 45 minuites by train and then I either get the train back again or if they arnt running I get the bus which is about 1 1/2 hours but I still wish I could be nearer cos I hate commuting

I actually have a handful of clubs like 5 min away. I thought that would be a dream but I'm so paranoid about the whole dancing in the same city that I just take that loss and drive even further 30-40 min away. Probably doesn't make a difference but it gives me some peace of mind. I'm highly considering commuting to another state.
