    Default Keto?

So I have been gaining and lossing the same 10 god damm pounds for years, ever since I stopped dancing. I'm not over weight, I eat fairly decent, but I just can't get back to that nice, lean body I used to have.
Recently I've been trying my hand at a ketogenic diet (very low carbs, relatively high fat) it's a little to soon to see if it's working (I've lost lbs on the scale but my water weight fluctuates so much)
I have been stalking the keto Reddit forum, and it all seems very legit. You don't just eat as much butter as you want, they have a calculator that spits out macros, and the calories it gave me are at, or even a little lower than I had been aiming for already.
I guess the idea is that, in keto, your appetite is way suppressed and its much easier to eat less.
There are tons and tons of very impressive weight losses posted, but they are mostly for obese males.
Has anyone here had success with this as a short, little female with only about 10 pounds to lose?

I did Keto by the book! Checked my ketones and glucose levels everyday did the whole nine yards, it consumed my life. No dairy except for butter and no coffee. High fat, moderate protein and very minimal carbs, did this ffor 2 months and gained 9 lbs! Clearly it wasn't the diet for me. I think Keto works best for men, the obese or athletes. This was just my experience though.

I am on keto since November, lost 12lb. So, it's slow but I feel amazing and it's so easy to eat this way.
I am not short / little but... you could try. What do you have to lose (except the weight)?

I have been on it for awhile. It's great. If you want to lose you need to make sure you stay in a caloric deficit & that your macros are 80% fat. It's the easiest diet I've ever done because you don't have to skip meals or exercise excessively..no starving yourself for a day so you can eat a cookie the next. Just make the cookie with almond flour and fake sugar. It's excellent. You won't even feel deprived. I sleep better and my mood isn't so up and down. I can taste the flavours of foods now instead of just sugar. It's good for your teeth, skin, brain, hair ...everything. You can build muscle on it. It prevents mental disorders because of the low carb. I can't say enough good things about it for myself. It makes getting groceries easier because you just buy the same stuff and prepare it in varying ways.

Reddit is a bad place to look for information. It is wike-style and not posted by nutritionists. I struggled with eating disorders from 12-22 or 23 (but TBH still do today). I learned in rehab that Ketosis, long-term is bad for your kidneys. Up your water intake and if you do do a KETO diet, you can not maintain it for very long. Have you tried eating according to Macros or maybe seeing if you have a problem with a certain type of food? What is your workout like? 10 lbs is not a lot despite your small stature. There has to be a way to get it off and keep it off. If you are working out with weights you might need carbs. We need more info to give you more rounded advice.

I second this as well. You need more water than normal and you need potassium! You might need 50g of carbs a day instead of 20g. Also you said you are small in stature: you may not be able to lose any more weight without putting your health in danger. I take pictures and do measurements. It's more effective than the # on the scale. I can weigh the same and have a belly pooch or abs and wicked arms. You have to just stay on it...if you like it. When I 1st went on I had the keto flu and almost gave up because of that. your body will adapt you just need to give it time.

Keto can work. But if you celebrate your weightloss with chocolates... you'll be yo-yo dieting for the rest of your life. The best diet is accepting that not having chocolates and not always eating to your belly maximum is not the end of the world. Just adopt a better moderate lifestyle that takes into account your ideal weight and ideal fitness level.

Another thing is cut down on carbs like simple sugars. They will end up as fat around your belly and bum. But on the other hand you need sugars because of work stress. Rather eat something like nuts and raisins. You'll get the instant sugar from the raisins to help you fight stress and the proteins to build muscle and sustain energy from the nuts. That means balanced diet.

I LOVE that you said it's not the end of the world!!! Everyone turns to some kind of junk food at some point. Allow yourself a day or 2 to refeed to do that and then get back into it. Keto is a low carb diet that is the whole point. Sugar is carbs. The body doesn't need sugar. A lot of people are addicted to sugar though...if that's what you mean then I agree. Another diet you could try OP could try is candida diet. Cortisol actually increases belly fat specifically. If that's your problem area you need to reduce stress. Sleep more, exercise less. You might have adrenal fatigue.

I am a short woman like you ...the number on the scale doesn't change much but the look of my body does change drastically! Don't look to the scale for results. If you want to do keto but have a sugar addiction (like myself) you can substitute many junk foods for nuts like Lucida said! Or just make your own using sweeteners, almond butter almond flour xanthum gum etc... This is excellent because instead of a normal diet where you cheat once a week and need to exercise massive willpower for the remaining days you can just treat yourself to these keto snacks anytime guilt free and a lot of them like fat bombs...you might even NEED to get the fat macros higher. You WILL see results if you follow the macros and stick to it and let time go by, at least 3 months NOT 2 WEEKS - longer. The body needs that time to adapt. But as far as losing the weight: do you know your body fat %? Because you might not be able to go any lower without causing serious damage to your health. However you can tone and still get a drastic difference without the scale moving much...that has been my experience at least as I have gained muscle and tightened skin, my face has thinned out dramatically.

First I'd like to highly recommend this recipe, though I cute the stevia amount in half. I'm going to try it with low fat cream cheese and two more eggs this time too. Perfect and delicious! http://www.demarleathome.com/recipe/...ss-cheesecake/

Second I had issues initially with keto, but I think it was because I was under the impression that you couldn't have too much fat. That is not true. I'm back at it, but this time I'm not drinking heavy whipping cream like it's water :-P

Also my hubby has been mostly on it for about 6 months and he is not active and hates working out. He also has a desk job so the most he gets exercise wise is occasionally going up and down the stairs if he feels like it. He has now lost over 20lbs by just changing to this diet. It can work even without exercise. Also at about the 3 month mark your hunger actually decreases. You may even start skipping lunch because you aren't hungry.

    Best of luck.

I lean towards keto but never went full-on. I just eat plenty of healthy fats and try to limit carbs. But I will still eat sugar here and there I just do things like cook my veggies in plenty of butter, and use heavy cream in my coffee while keeping carbs and sweets to a minimum. Keeps my energy level more stable throughout the day, and I gained 5lbs of healthy weight (I was under-weight; crazy fast metabolism). It also has minimized my mood swings by stabilizing my blood sugar. Never felt healthier.

Just an update for anybody that's interested. I decided to stop doing full on keto and switch to just mainly tracking calories and eating meats and veggies and trying to limit carbs as much as possible. I stopped trying to hit specific macros as well. It seems to be working, because I am slowly losing weight again.
I know keto can be amazingly effective if you do it right, but I just couldn't muster the attention to detail needed. I would always end up going over on my fats, usually with dairy, and was thinking about food WAY too much.
I have been doing intermittent fasting (nothing crazy, like 18 hr fast, 6 hr eating) and it works well for me because I only have to follow one rule, don't eat in your fast window . I'm definitely hungry when I break my fast but if I eat real veggies and a decent amt of protein I get full pretty fast.
Also having one rule to follow (don't eat in your fasting window) really works for me.
Completely with out any kind of scientific backing, I also think IF is helping me with my body composition. I've only lost like 5 pounds, but my waist and ass look amazing. It's like I'm losing fat but not muscle.
If/when I get to my goal weight I'll post some before and afters

It's an amazing way to eat and also great for the mind. It takes some time to adjust and actually get into ketosis. I recommend the ketosix of you aren't sure. Just please make sure you take potassium magnesium and salt! I have had great success and you really spare your lean muscle by eating this way good luck

I forgot to add if your struggling with tge macros then up your protien and consider protien powder. It helped me to seperate my macros completely for example really lean meat veggies dark green or purple then fat. Instead of trying to consider the macros in a salad with chicken. So basically if you divide your macros seperatly it's easier to mix them together
