do you eat in a day to keep yourself in shape? I'm struggling here. Like, for an average height person, around 5'5"
I'm looking for number answers here, not "calories don't matter" answers.

I'm around 2000ish but I'm taller than that.

To lose weight or maintain ? how much do you exercise and how many calories do you burn when you do?? What's your body type, ectomorph , endomorph..? You can also go on a calorie calculator online

1200 cals a day - plenty of water.
I am 5'4 and eat around 2000. But that is ONLY when I am working out consistently. If sedentary, I keep it around 1500 to not gain. But it really varies because everyone is so different. Just knowing your height I can't say. Never go below 1200, though.

between 1200-1400.

ˆˆthis is a good rule of thumb! I like to think of it in terms of meals... two small meals and one large.
Like breakfast: yogurt and a bit of granola, or a croissant with a piece of ham and some spinach ~ 350 calories
Dinner: eat like you're hungry but eat slowly and drink lots of water so you don't over do it.
2n dinner: veggies and dip... soup... something small but healthy... salad...

I love myfitnesspal for calculating this and keeping up with it. You can even scan skus and it keeps up with food that you eat often making food easier to input. Combine this with fitbit and it's a great way to track health and weight loss. The trick is sticking to it...Also both apps are kind of slow on older phones. I just got a new Galazy7 and they work beautifully.

Usually around 2000 and I am extremely active. I work 40+ hours a week on my feet at my day job and dance one to two nights a week and try to work out as much as I have time for.I'm 5'5" and around 135 right now which is heavier than I like but I'm also extremely muscular.
im a mesomorph, right now im dieting down (1300kcal a day, working out 6x a week really intense workouts but otherwise my lifestyle is pretty sedentary). When im bulking or just more focused on lifting, i can go up to 3000 kcal but with that the workouts get more intense and weights i lift get heavier also. right now im at 154lbs and im 5'8". i reccommend you calculate your TDEE and go from there.
You're going to want to look up your BMR and your TDEE. If you are fairly active (as in you get up to go pee instead of peeing in bed, someone who is not bedridden will expend more energy than their BMR), and eat at your BMR you will certainly lose weight. Your TDEE would be the calories your body uses in a day taking your activity level into account. If you eat at your TDEE you should maintain your weight, but will likely not lose weight.
Edit to add: A pound of fat lost = 3500 calories below your TDEE. If you eat 500 calories below your TDEE every day for a week you will lose a pound of fat a week (and in my experience two more pounds of water weight as well).

Maintenance level for someone your size and active is around 1800 calories per day. Google Mifflin St. Jeor, put in your data, and use a multiplication factor of 1.5.
