Default Life Coaching - have you considered it as a career.

I don't think this has ever been talked about before.

Did a search and it mostly came up with post that I am considering doing it for myself.

Since this is the other work section. It would be nice to talk about other work more often.

I've been looking at getting certification narrowed it down to 2 schools. i have a fellow sex worker who just finished her certification. she went with the YMCA and said to me she wished she went with one of the schools I am personally looking at.

With my whole business plan exit strategy of leaving adult work. This seems to be next logical step is to find another career path where I can make my own money, be in control of my time and money. and Have my adult work life past be a distant memory.

Its not something Ive considered, but I went out on a few dates (personal life, not a client) with a guy who was a life coach. He loved his job and seemed to do very well for himself. At one point he told me he thought it was something Id be good at and was interested in hiring me to help him out and help me get whatever I needed to be able to do it on my own too. But he turned out to be a jerk (typical guy stuff) and thats as far as that went.

He did get me to thinking though..his job took him traveling quite a bit and he was his own boss...things that I liked. Sounds like a really interesting career path I have to say.

I was thinking about doing this as a career for myself as well. I'd be interested to learn more about it! I honestly think a lot of former adult industry workers would make excellent life coaches because our jobs required us to be very independent, strong, good with money, good at presenting ourselves and good at dealing with life. We are very resourceful and most of the time have lots of patience and compassion for people (I know I do).

Minus the guy. have you looked in the profession, training programs or maybe even took a look at the international coach federation website.

I've learned there are training programs under regulation of international coach federation and there are programs that are not. and this is still one of those professions where almost anyone can call themselves a coach. But the income potential is there, people are still lost in their lives and this career path seems to be one of the ones that accepts everyone and it's more about providing value and getting your clients to reach results.

No...I thought of it briefly and do think that skill wise, its something I could do...but everything else wise, not so much. Id need to have my life in order to be able to help coach someone else...well, okay maybe not, but Id feel a lot better about it if I did. I have PTSD on my side which lends itself to some moments where I cant function...that would not be good for business and Id feel horrible knowing people are depending on and needing me. So yeah, sadly, not the path for me.

I've done my research started with visiting the international coach federation website. Found a training program in my city from a program called Adler, my friend took training from the YMCA but I found that program to be lacking.

Took an intro course as Landmark Forum I might go back and take the full course not sure yet. I know my sister took she had us at her graduation for it. it was werid cause it felt like an ambush.

Been in talks with IPEC coaching they are more my jam because of their energy coaching process they teach that I hear is 7 months long.

I think with how IPEC is set up one I figure their first level of training I can start earning my coaching hours. so don't be surprised if I offer some free coaching hours.

YEs it's ideal you figure out your own issues because you get into coaching, coaching is not about fixing the psychological problems it's about moving a "normal" well person to ultimatum level in life. I've done my work on that I am just in moderate healthy recovery mode now.

My point of view is too wack for me to be a life coach.

I do think there is great money to be made in Youtube channels, if someone can come up with some interesting content. Some of those YouTube stars are legendary (like the makeup bloggers, the old war veterans, or the ASMR channels.)

Perhaps but the closer I get to retirement age the less I want to trade time for money because it limits earnings.

It's a cool area if that's something you want to do. I'd also say hurry up and get certified before they start regulating it like they do therapists.

I dont know if that would happen.....life coaches are along the same lines as consultants. Its not any sort of therapy, just..paying someone to give you advice. That would be pretty hard to regulate...and..people are always out for good advice....the worst things get the more advice they need. So I think its a great career choice with longevity.

Plus international coach federation has been regulating coaching world wide since 2002. just some people choose not to be recognize by them.

It's like sex educators they have a regulatory bodies, but not every sex educator is certified by them.
