Default Not very good walking in heels...

Hey ladies! I want to start dancing Thursday night, but I'm not the best walking in heels. I bought a pair of 4inch heels. I start out okay, but after a while my knees start bending, and my ankles feel like they want to give out on me. My boyfriend who is supportive and familiar with the industry, said not to walk around so much. Take time to rest when sitting with the customers for a minute or two and move around slowly. Don't just walk the floor all night. . Everything is better in slow motion, like dancing. I feel like the pole will help me keep balance, it's just walking around that I have a problem with. .

I know 4 inches isn't that tall, but the club said whatever you're comfortable with is okay. We went and checked it out and most of the girls had about 6in heels on... help!!

Do you have shoes that have a strap or is it the mule kind (the one you slip on). I found having the strap stablizes my foot more when walking.

Also are the heels you bought actual stripper heels?

The 6"+ pleasers with the platforms are actually easier to walk in (imo) than the 4" ones or civilian heels. You're higher but your foot is at less of an angle. And civilian heels tend to be pretty wobbly cause they aren't made out of solid plastic like dancer heels.

If they are stripper shoes and it's still a problem you just need to take it slow as your bf said. Walking in heels uses a different set of muscles than walking in regular shoes so it'll get better over time.

Ankle strength! Heel raises while brushing your teeth, walking around on the balls of your feet. The stronger your ankles the more stable you'll be .

They are just regular stilettos with a little platform and closed toed. I tried on stripper heels and literally felt like I was going to fall forward. I feel like if the heel was a little thicker, it would be easier.

I hate wearing high heels. I'm not good at walking in high stilettos and they hurt my back and knees. I usually wear these 4 inch Pleasers and they're pretty easy to walk and dance in and have good sole grips. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DM...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They also make similar ones clear without rhinestones.

I also like cone heels. Even though the heel is thicker I think they're still pretty sexy. Just do a search for Pleaser or Ellie cone heels. I have a pair like this in black. http://m.ebay.com/itm/111631312740?_mwBanner=1

I firmly felt that heels were against my belief system before becoming a dancer. like I refused to go anywhere that required me to not even be able to stand up comfortably. But actual stripper shoes are made for standing in for long periods of time and much easier than regular heels.

I find ankle strap shoes easier on my feet if Im working a double or really long shift but I think its because I have narrow feet.
You can buy straps to put on your shoes too if they dont have them or I see some girls use garters or I have even used bandanas. Depends on what your club allows.

I was practically about to break my neck when I first started dancing but you get the hang of it. keep your weight on the balls of your toes more.

And your boyfriend is right, I mean you don't want to be apart of the furniture or sit in the corner all night but dont feel like you cant sit down or lean against the bar or something if you are waiting to go on stage or waiting for new customers to come in.

Doctor Scholls high heel insoles super glued into your shoes! These have seriously saved my life. Be sure to super glue them otherwise they will fall off. Also, put band aids on your two pinkie toes before you get blisters and not after. Also be sure you have the proper size of shoe and your foot is not sliding around while your wearing it. The general rule of thumb with Pleaser heels is to go a size or size and a half smaller. I made the mistake of buying my actual size and i stood and tried them on and they were fine I even walked in the store for a second. But, once I actually was working I could tell they were too big and I couldnt return the $65 pair of shoes because the black thigh highs I wore left stains on the inside of the shoe.

I started out in 4 inch stripper heels, then moved up to 8". When you are new, it helps to have ankle straps. And it's true...there is no need to walk around all night. I also noticed that if you walk around with your shoes on regular carpeting, it's a lot more difficult. In the club they have carpeting that is more conducive to wearing heels and walking around. Make sure you're not drinking alcohol while you're adjusting to the shoes.

What was said about Pleasers shoes was true. Order a size down. I normally wear 7, but I wear a six in Pleasers.

Vacuum! Vacuum your whole apartment. That way you have something to lean on if you get a little wobbly, and by the time you're done, the whole place is clean and you're much better at walking!

^thats a great idea! I am really new to dancing so I feel your pain! I do cosplay and I have always hated heels because they are so uncomfortable walking around at conventions all day! But honestly, I went and bought a basic pair of 6 inch pleasers with ankle straps and they are pretty comfortable and easy to walk in! I took a pole dancing class and wore some knee socks with them and they are broken in now.
