    Default I may be screwed

I know everyone will blast me for this but I have been providing where I live not at a hotel for 9 months. I have a feeling my neighbors have reported the traffic to police. For the past 5 days I have had a different car and person sitting outside of where I live in the same spot for hours just watching and I have had 1 client a day leave. I have decided obviously to not provide where I live but is it too late do you think regarding legal reasons do you guys think? I've been feeling paranoid and terrified knowing this is happening.

I would stop all operations. Halt. Do not past go. And look at other options.

Do you think it would be safe to just provide at a hotel? I don't have a 2nd job. The only other option is the strip club which is not good nearby.

I would lay low for awhile...and also keep an eye on whoever is watching.

Though honestly, a part of me might be freaked out enough to either talk to a neighbor or call a friend over and just walk out there with them to approach them, accuse them of canvassing the neighborhood to rob the place and threaten to call the cops on them if they dont leave. But I wouldnt actually do that lol Instead, Id just call up the cops directly and say youve noticed someone suspicious parking outside of your home and youre scared and need someone to handle it.

Because, think of this logically..if it is the police and they did have anything on you, they woudlnt be doing a stake out, they would have knocked on your door already. On top of that..do you really think that they would be putting in the money and resources to have cops staking out your place everyday?? Not very likely. Maybe its someone from your complex keeping an eye on you? Maybe its not even you at all they are out there for. Whatever it is...thats creepy as fuck and disturbs the peace...the police will likely tell them to knock it off.

I am going to share an alternate view fwiw. For starters, I seriously doubt that LE is staking you out. That's just too much manpower and money for a police department to invest for a single potential misdemeanor prostitution charge. If someone IS really sitting on your place, IMHO it is more likely a pissed off neighbor or someone else you know, such as a former or current client.

So with that said, IMHO shutting down altogether may be a bit extreme, especially if you need the money. But what you probably should do is to start seeing clients some place other than your home. Also stay alert when entering and exiting your home as you may have a stalker.

    I
have had 2 people knock on my door and when I checked, one of them waited and started knocking, then left no business card or package I ordered. I don't answer the door for neighbors or anyone. I have 2 neighbors that are watching over me being nosy. It's like every time I finish having an appointment the next day a car is sitting outside where I live waiting and I am low volume. Like 1 maybe 2 people a day. I even had a client tell me "somebody is sitting in their car"...one time it was a female the rest were male. I need the money and it's more affordable and easier for me to provide at my place.

I will mention this, I saw them parked outside for the 5th day and when I opened my door I flipped them off. I KNOW, it was dumb for me to do that. I was mad they got me this scared. Ever since then no car has been parked outside but I have also not been escorting these past 2 days out of fear of this situation.

Were the people knocking on your door wearing uniforms? If not..it was not the police. If this is directed at you, sounds like it has something to do with your neighbors. What whoever is doing is harrassment...I would call the police myself and have them check it out next time I see someone parked outside. They cant actually do anything to you without probable cause. If youre home alone and some car is outside watching your place...you are not doing anything wrong and well within your right to ask the police to roll up on them and talk to them. Because they are disturbing your peace. Especially if its being done or organized by anyone in your apartment complex or the managers...they are breaking contract to provide a peaceful place to live...its written in my lease and Im sure its in yours as well.

It's in my house in my neighborhood. . I was under the impression they were undercover police trying to get information from me knocking at my door. The vehicles sat in the same spot in front of my house for 2-3 hours. Not sure if this changes the situation since I don't have a landlord? They probably already contacted the police on me is what I was thinking, police said they couldn't do anything about it without probable cause, and these cars are just rolling up and watching me. I knew it was regarding me because when I stepped outside of the house the female sitting in the car's head turned to watch me while I was going to my car. It's absolutely scary.

Okay, it only changes the whole angle of anyone breaking contract, but everyting else still stands.

Like I and someone else said...do you really think that the police are putting all the money, time and the resources to set cops in front of your home to do a stakeout? Like, unless you also have a meth lab operation going at your house, I seriously, seriously doubt it. We are talking thousands of taxpayer dollars.... There is no way the police are doing that..and lets just say they were..they would not be so obvious. So yeah, Im still pretty convinced its not the police, and that you are totally within your rights as a concerned citizen to call the police and ask them to check it out the next time you see a car parked out there.

    Thank
you for everyone who posted here. I'm feeling better. I have been locking myself in my room at night scared someone's going to bust my door in or something. Do you think they wouldn't really have a case if I was only seeing one person a day? For all I could be, is a female who enjoys sex with whomever she pleases not an escort.

As many others have said, I HIGHLY doubt it's the police watching. It's someone who is harrassing you - call the police next time you see them. Keep track of all the cars (licence plates, car model and colour, driver description, as well as date and time/time they spent there). It's harassment, plain and simple - police will tell them off and you shouldn't have a problem from there on out. People will be more likely to back down if you stand up for yourself.

I just got a knock again today and checked the door after they left and no packages or car to be seen. Must be neighbors. What can I put on my door to make these people go away and leave me be?

I dont know how else to say it....

Open the door, see what they want. If its some nonsense, call the police and let them know you are being harassed.

Next time you see a car parked out front, call the police. Like you cant keep hiding in your house...let the police handle it.

Are you sure it's not a clients wife who has hired someone? or something along those lines?

I don't know if you're in a big town or not, but a ton of escort agencies in NYC got busted because neighbors repeatedly complained about traffic to and from certain apartments and cops were forced to look into it ... same here in MA, it's not impossible it being cops, but it is highly unlikely.

I would def walk over to the car and ask what's up - bottom line you can just act like a concerned neighbor.

    I
think I'm gonna try dancing again and hope for the best. A knock this morning and now a new car in front of my house neighborhood like a minivan parked out front my home.

why not open the door and see what they want?

you don't have to give them any information or answer any questions, just see what they ask you, if your uncomfortable close the door,

you don't have to let them in whoever they are, if they had a warrant to search they would have busted the door down by now,

Slightly comic idea- I bet a client got caught & claimed he was doing drugs at your place. So his family is making you sweat thinking you're a dealer.

I'm not making fun of you, I know how bad this situation feels. But there's the possibility of mis-information that can prevent even worse outcomes.

I still stand by take a mini-vacation so they get tired of coming by when there is no activity at your place...

It's a lot different in the USA then in Canada.

If you noticed suspicious activity I would stop

It actually doesn't matter if you provide from your home or hotel the risk are a little differnet, like a hotel can shut you down a lot faster then some neighbour being noisy and making a complaint.

^^^ that's a good point, hotel shut down is immediate basically - the cops can and will roll up at your Hilton door and say, we know what you're doing get the f out today.

Neighborhood stuff takes more time and effort - but either way you don't want that drama where you lay your head at night.

If cops knock at your door you just hold your composure, be polite and know you do not have to let them in. Better to have a faux home business so if anyone comes to your door saying look we have had complaints or whats with this traffic etc etc ... be like "I cut hair from home, Idk, like am I not supposed to do that? I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to, I had no clue" Play it left.

^^^ just make sure youre careful with what you say with that, they may ask to see your license to cut hair (if youre getting paid) and then youre really screwed lol. but thats a good idea just say your practicing for free from your home or your friends

^^^ that a good point re licensing - I guess practicing would be the best option and it's like what are they really going to do unless you roll up to the door with a crack pipe and reason for them to push further.

Most don't want to do idle paperwork and if you're polite and they can honestly say - everything looked normal - you can at least gain back peace of mind and switch up your practices.

Sorry for the thread jack but how do you ladies provide from home? I would be worried about a stalker, being robbed, etc. Once they know where you live it's not like you can do anything about it unless you move.
