    Default Hey Dancers...Newbies & Vets

    Hey gals!
I've been taking pole dancing classes and I also got my own pole, so that I can learn as well as practice my dancing.😙

Just wondering how other dancers learn pole tricks and floor work...!?

I learned on the job just by doing what felt sexy as well as watching other dancers. A few times I approached a girl who had very good pole skills and would offer to pay her in exchange to stay after or come early and teach me some stuff. Of the dancers I got the courage to talk to one agreed to meet with me after closing. I only did this once but I still do some of the moves she taught me today! Youtube videos are another good choice, look up floor work viedos as well as pole trick videos. I have found the floor work is more up close and personal, will earn you more tips and is much easier then pole tricks. Advanced pole skills really only earn you more money if it is night time and it is busy as far as I have noticed. The hardest part for me was figuring out the right placement of my knees so I could move smoothly. It is good to start out wearing thigh high tights which will help you slide, be sure to get the kind with rubber on the inner seam so they are not falling off all night. The only down side to tights is it makes it extremely difficult to do something like climb the pole, all you will do it slide down.

If you have your own pole there are a TON of vids on youtube.

Most stuff is learned just from watching other dancers though- there's things a pole studio might teach you (both floor and pole work) that you're never gonna see in a club, because your first rule on stage is "look sexy".
