Default How familiar were you on your first night?

Did you know anything about strip clubs? How was your confidence? Did anyone give you a rundown before going? Or did you walk in not knowing a damn thing? How good were you walking in the heels at first? What about your attitude? I'm a really nice person, so my boyfriend is a little worried for me. He said I need some thick skin because I let things get to me.
If these questions are already asked, sorry!!

I knew nothing. I did read this forum before I went in for auditioning tips. I was terrified at my audition but smiled and the manager liked that I had a good attitude. I could barely walk in 4 inch heels (I wear 8 inch now and can run in them). Yes you need a thick skin for this business.

I had literally never walked into a strip club before I decided to work there. Did an interview with the manager (just an "up-down" and a few questions, no audition) and got told to get my license. I think that was on Tuesday or Wednesday and then I worked that Friday. I did know enough to buy stripper heels before I started- they were the 5.5" mules and after a little walking around my apt to break them in I found them pretty good. Actual dancing in them looking good (like on stage) took a while though, at first I didn't really move around much, just a lot of posing in place very carefully haha.

Reading this forum is definitely helpful but there is a lot you just sort of pick up as you go. You will need a thick skin. A lot of customers are very respectful but there are shitty ones out there (and also awful staff and other dancers). This is where having the stripper "persona" sometimes helps. Civilian you might be shy and nice and take things too personally, but stripper you gives no fucks what others thinks and is there to get what she wants. Once you strap those heels on who you are outside the club or what happened to you that day is gone till you finish for the night.

Sometimes it seems girls that go in blind but determined end up being the best dancers- this is a very sink or swim job. Girls who go in thinking they know how to dance etc and won't take advice from older girls in the club (although not everybody should be trusted, take it all with a grain of salt) end up crashing and burning when stripping doesn't line up with the idea they had in their head. Just understand that nobody learned everything on their first night, you will make a LOT of mistakes, and the amount of money you leave the club with has NOTHING to do with your worth. Also there is no knowing "everything", even girls who have been at this for many years are still (or should be) working on perfecting their hustle. There's always something to improve.

I knew shit about a SC but have been able to walk in heels since like, 7th grade (US). I agree with SuperJa about the "sink or swim" some girl might be "nice" but it's every girl for herself

^^ Agree. Sink or swim. You may have allies in this business, but you have no friends.

I didn't know a single thing about being sexy or makeup. I was a tomboy that had really long hair. Heels is like learning how to ride a bike. You wobble and might fall a few times but once you got it down, you never forget. I used my knowledge of sports to win over guys. But the learning curve is fast. I always had and still have a unique difference between me and my fellow dancers. So use your uniqueness to your advantage. It's also important to remember to have fun and not over stress. If you don't get it the first day or 10th day, you will eventually learn this is for you or not.

I also had a bf at the time I started, he said I was also very innocent, nice and probably be ripped off easily. If you know this is you, then just be more mindful of your choices. Allies and friends are usually not instant. Remember they are here to make money not your friend. But after working or getting to know someone for awhile, you can see who really stands in your corner as friends in the club.

I knew absolutely nothing, I didn't have stripperweb at the time or anybody who gave me any pointers beforehand. like a lot of vanilla peeps I thought all I did was dance onstage all night and do pole work ..didn't know anything about lap dances or even any basic stripper moves..my makeup was horrific , I remember putting navy blue eyeshadow up to my eyebrows *LOL cringe* I was scared shitless.
I wore these horrible 3 inch baby doll shoes with straps and looked laughable I'm sure. You learn quick.

You need to put in some metaphorical protective armor when you walk in there. I even go as far as having a stripper alter ego, and she's ruthless and sexy unlike my normal sensitive shy dorky self.

    .
I can not say why (other than I am crazy) but this made me think of the "Black Hole Sun" video by Soundgarden.

OP, how did your first night go?

Grrrrr, I wanted to start this week but I ended up starting my cycle and I wasn't comfortable to start dancing for the first time while on it. :/

I don't blame you there. Definitely give it a shot when you're feeling more confident.
