    Default Stalker issues

Two years ago, I was advertising online as an escort. I received a series of emails that looked to be from potential clients. One of them directed me to go to a link. I clicked on the link and it turned out to be some sort of a virus. A while later, I received threats to take all my ads down, that I would be reported to police if I don't and that if I don't comply, my real name, ss# and address would be made public. My computer died shortly after, because it got really hot presumably from the virus. There was also some gaslighting done with regards to my passwords, before my computer died completely. I had other computers die the same way, plus my android which I'd never previously had issues with. It's three years later now, I still have inexplicable issues with my phone which I think have something to do with this original hacking/harassment situation. I use a chromebook which is supposed to be antivirus, so I'm hoping Im safe from spyware and such. I received the original threat bullying me into retirement when I was talking to my ex-boyfriend on facebook. Immediately after I logged off of facebook with him and logged into my gmail, the threat was there. Despite this, I don't think it was him but someone that wants me to think that it is. I had one client ask me if I ever had a stalker and tell me he received notes about his whereabouts which aligned with the time frame where my whole stalking situation began but he kind of blew them off and didn't take them too seriously. I went to a computer guy in Vegas, but he told me he didn't find anything. At this point, I'm pretty certain he just took my money and lied. Question is, why? Anyhow, I don't know the root of this harassment but would like to find out. My original gut instinct was that it was somehow connected to the legal brothel where I worked in NV. Others have told me that this line of reasoning doesn't make sense: Because they are legal, they would not do something illegal like threaten, harass, and stalk. Obviously, it can be anyone. Anyone have any tips, on how I'd find out where it all came from. The whole ordeal left me deeply traumatized.

Sounds like it was a virus. He already has your personal info so at this point all you can do is damage control.

people use the same username and passwords for everything, or they use a variation. You have to get new e-mails, new passwords, new usernames and monitor your credit report. Also change your password for your wifi log in. Apple is the most secure product on the market. You can not hack an iPhone or an ipad without physically having the damn thing! I'm not sure about chrome book. I know apple is a bitch. I know android are really easy to hack- don't ask me how I know
You could use a separate computer just for work and keep NOTHING personal on it if you want.

Don't doubt your intuition, it's probably right on. I would try to cope the best I can. I'm not trying to be mean, but radical acceptance and coping with the situation is probably the most effective way to deal with the trauma. Sorry this happened to you, but I don't think you can do much. Prosecuting is really hard unless he actually uses your SS or bank account info. Again, i wish I could be more helpful, but that's about all I have. I know it's a pain in the ass, but I'd make a to do list and start changing everything using your chromebook.

Let me ask someone I know who might have some answers for you.

The hard part about the sex industry is- it's far too easy for stalkers to terrorize workers. (A great classic pre-Internet era movie about this is "Klute" where Jane Fonda plays a NYC call girl with a determined sadistic stalker.)

I can relate to this predicament too unfortunately....Let me get a hold of my "tech buddy."

There's a lot of dickheads in europe and other parts of the world that simply do this for cheap kicks ... they're in fact no where near you, etc ... but they def will terrorize you with whatever info they have got from your computer/files etc.

If you think there's any issue with your phone - replace it, there's a lot on info on the dark/deep web about hacking androids (usually pertaining to accessing peoples banking apps etc) I would get an iPhone.

As far as computers, start fresh.

Exercise some damage control. I'm sure there's a computer forensic for hire if you want to and are comfortable having someone go through your computer.

I already hired a forensics guy. He said he couldnt find anything. Im pretty sure he was lying. A friend said access must have been obtained by someone in same network but Im pretty sure it was download of what I clicked via link. Another friend looked up ip from sender and said it was from Africa.

I do not think you are dealing with a "stalker" so much as hacker who is getting a sick thrill out of the threat of "doc'ing" you. It could have been some one who you pissed off while camming or someone who came across you randomly but if their threats are trying to get you to stop camming.... I would not be so worried about it. I agree get a new computer and maybe a new online persona.

There was a case of this with some guy from Holland or similar who basically terrorized some poor girl via Facebook and eventually she killed herself ... he was a hacker of some sort.

I would say you're probably right that the virus you download or access point etc was probably via a link in an email or similar

Tend to agree with Gia .... prob a random or someone who got pissed if you ignored them etc.
