    Default Tongue piercing

I want my tongue pierced for my birthday in June. I was supposed to get it pierced many times before but bitched out because of the morning after pain that I keep hearing about.

I've done my research so I know where I'm going to get it done (hopefully I don't punk out again).

Has anyone had their tongue pierced? What do you recommend for the next day pain

I know Tylenol (not Aleve as it is a blood thinner), ice, and soquids...

I had mine done since I was 19 but took it out. It did hurt and you will hear the piercing noise. Its not that bad. It only takes less than 1 minute if the piercer know what he's doing. My tongue was sore for a few weeks and I was slurring. I took it out because the metal ball was rubbing on the back of my teeth and they were sensitive. It also looks trashy and uncomfortable when I eat. I have no regrets except a pierced tongue with the hole closed.

How long did you have it in and how long did it take for the hole to close?

Had it for 6 years and it took maybe a 2 weeks for it to close?

I had mine and liked it a lot, but I had to take it out. My dentist warned me it was starting to erode my bottom gums which could lead to tooth loss eventually! Not be scary, but just be aware and get advice from your dentist if you get one and make sure and watch for this problem.

Make sure you go to an experienced pro. I had mine pierced twice. The first time I went to some random piercer and afterward my tongue would not stop bleeding. And the dumb ass told me to rinse a fresh tongue wound with listerine?!? Just so you know never use alcohol based mouthwash especially during healing.

I really wanted my tongue pierced so I took that one out, let it heal, then went to the best tattoo/piercing shop in the city and got it done right.

It hurts like how you accidentally bite your tongue so hard it makes your eyes water. But the mouth heals very fast. I think I could move it normally after a few days. I had it for years until I started my vanilla career and took it out for good. I was so sad. I wish I still had it.

I think I'm gonna take my chances and get it in June. My birthday falls on a Tuesday this year so I'm going to pierce it on Friday and hopefully by the time I goback to my square job on Monday I'll at least be able to fake it

I love mine so so so much! There are little half dome ends for barbells that are a lot more comfortable than the plain ball ends. It's also great for fidgeting, not so much for licking the tops of pudding cups. It didn't hurt too badly, but eating was difficult for 3 or 4 days afterward. I have a great healing factor though, which made it a smoother process. Do it! It'll heal quickly if you don't like it and take it out.

Can you post a pic of the half done ends?

BTW anyone also have a navel or nose piercing that they can compare pain level to?

I've had mine for almost 10 years, and I can still remember the healing process lol It's not that bad though. As someone else said, the mouth heals quickly. I couldn't eat normal food comfortably for about 4 or 5 days and mostly existed off of popsicles and cold soup. When I did eat normal food, I usually had to do it in several sittings, because it would hurt too much to sit and eat a full meal. Avoid anything that could easily slip in and get "caught" under it - like pieces of noodles. I made that mistake.

It felt fully healed and I was speaking normally within a couple weeks. When you first get it done, they'll probably give you an extra long barbell for the swelling, and that can really get in the way of your teeth and chip them if you leave it in once the swelling is down, so make sure you have something to switch it out with once you no longer need it. 3 or 4 days might not be long enough to get comfortable talking with it, so you might still slur upon returning to work, but don't worry - that goes away quickly. To help with the risk to my teeth, I often buy the plastic barbells with the squishy coverings over the balls - however, I end up chewing on them because of the texture so they don't last long. But plastic is going to protect you more than metal in terms of accidentally pushing it back between your teeth and biting down on it (especially when eating). (Obviously, go with whatever your piercer tells you to for the healing process though).

I also have my navel done and I would absolutely say that navel is worse, at least in terms of initial piercing pain. Digging that hook through was just the absolute worst I've ever experienced in terms of piercing pain. The tongue is one of those "quick" straight-through piercings. Tongue is definitely more sensitive during the healing process since you obviously can't just not eat or speak while it's doing it's thing. But it also heals faster. If I ever had to pick which one I would go through again, I would go through the tongue piercing again.

^THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!! The first time I got it done was when I was only 16 years old and they totally fucked up so I had to take it out. They even gave me the wrong gauge size so my tongue had no room for the swelling.

Fast foward to 2007 at the age of 21, I decided to give it another go when I was in Maine visiting a friend and I have had mine in ever since. Hell, I was eating Burger King right after so it is *very* important to get it done by an EXPERIENCED PRO who knows what they are doing & knows what they are talking about. Just know you may experience it differently with the eating as I did this go around because I had it done previously and did have to eat soup the first time for the first few days but had to take it out a week later because it started to hurt because my tongue had no room to swell because the size was just way too small.

My personal experience, as everyone is different, is that it never hurt to get done - not even the first go around. To me, it felt just like I was getting my ears pierced, a slight feeling of something going through & that was it. Your tongue will swell, naturally so don't freak out and you'll talk funny until it goes down but you should be able to eat just fine afterwards as I did without an issue at all. Make sure that you keep it clean once the swelling goes down & everything is fine and dandy because if you don't, you could get an infection which (not to scare ya) could lead to you not having a tongue anymore. Take it out & clean it daily or every other day - I do it daily myself.

Also, I advise against using plastic tongue rings as I have swallowed so many of those because they always come loose. I play with mine constantly so that is also partially my fault but in my defense, what's the point in having one if you aren't going to play with it lol.

I have had mine for 10 years now without a single issue and I'm very happy I re-did it.

EDIT UPDATE: I just have to say this as well...I know it may be hard to avoid but try not to click on your teeth with your piercing because you can cause damage including chipping of your teeth. When I play with mine, I started a habit of rubbing it across my lips instead of my teeth to avoid causing any issues with my teeth.

I had mines done at 19 and took it out at 25. Mostly because I kept biting the balls off.

I heard it makes blowjobs feel so much better if the woman knows how to use it. Myth or not? My grandma told me that.

Idk about better but it's a different sensation for men.

Just be prepared for men to instantly sexualize you and assume you're a dick sucking freak.

You won't be able to eat after getting it so if you're getting it done on your birthday get it done later in the evening after you've done all your celebrating. Having a swollen tongue, not being able to eat cake and drooling isn't fun lol. I had mine done years ago and loved it, it ended up unscrewing itself and coming out while I was talking to a custy they thought it was hilarious I was mortified.

Myth for blowjobs, men are just so visual they get so turned on just looking at it it enhances the experience for them. It definitely feels amazing on the clit though

Hate to be the party pooper but having a ball in your tongue will lead to cracked teeth. Just warning you.

I've gotten oral from a guy with a tongue stud & it was actually painful.
