Default What MBTI type are you?

If you don't know, take the test to find out!

    http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

When you are done, state your type and how long you have been dancing.

I always thought that an ENTP would make the best stripper.

    E>I
Here is why: Duh, it's a social job. The less you get worn out by socializing, the better. It also really shows when someone is enjoying a conversation, vs forcing themselves to socialize. That's why Extroversion is better than Introversion for stripping. Also, it gives you an edge while talking to awkward introverted customers.

    N>S
This one might be counter-intuitive to how people perceive strippers, but here is why i think it's better to be intuitive. Stripping is ultimately a sales job, and to be a good salesperson you need to be able to read people, and understand their hopes and fears. A good salesperson understands the individual needs each customer has, and can give them what they want, and keep them coming back for more. Sensors are not as good at this, which is why Intuition is better for stripping than Sensing.

    T>F
It's a stereotype that strippers and sex workers are less connected to their feelings than normal girls. At the very least, strippers should know how to separate feelings of love from feelings of sex/sexuality. In addition, the club environment can be VERY DARK at times, which could be upsetting to sensitive people, and lead to career burn out. Long term dancers are almost always Thinkers rather than Feelers from what I have observed.

    P>J
Being a successful hustler means adapting your hustle to changing conditions. One minute a club can be empty, the next moment it can be packed. Even the TYPE of people coming in change the hustle. Percivers thrive in these situations, and Judgers are often upset/put off by situations that are not constant or predictable. When you are a dancer, every day, every month, and every year will be radically different from anything before it. Percivers love this, which is why they make better dancers than Judgers.

In case you are wondering, OP is an INTP, one letter off.

What type do you think makes the best dancer, and why?

Other combos for dancing(according to me)

    God tier: ENTP, ENFP
(All the girls hate you. You make all the money and are a natural at your job.)

    Very good tier: ESFP,ENFJ, INTP
(you have a good chance. Certain customers will fall in love with you)

Decent tier: ESTP ISTP INTJ, ENTJ
(Hit or miss with these types)

Not so great tier: INFP, ISTJ, ISFP, ISFJ, ESTJ, ESFJ
(they will be unhappy, or struggle to make money. high tunover.)

I dunno, I don't think you can stereotype like that.

I'm INTJ "the scientist" and while it tends to give me a short attention span with boring/young/unintelligent customers, I also tend to do very well due to it. The "I" means I'm always calculating and honing in on the next guy, rather than wasting time letting an "E" tendency lead me to just approach everyone.

I'm also stupid obsessed with efficiency. Once I'm at a club long enough, I have logs of what shifts and what I made hourly, so then I only ever work generally lucrative shifts. When I am there, I am working and in cutthroat machine mode. I do often fall into the 'hated' camp, not in the popularity contest "oh everyone loves her" sense that some girls are hated for, but because I make twice as much in the same time just out of sheer aggressive hustling.

Spoken like a true INTJ! I'm surprised to see someone of your type in this profession, tbh. I think introverted types as a general rule harcore hustle and then take long breaks. Extroverts have a little more stamina.

    YepYep^

ENFP is a very good type for this job, and was ranked as the type most other types would be willing to date, so many people find you hot.Only concern I have for this type is they may be more inclined towards using alcohol/substances, and may be slightly more inclined than the ENTP to burn out.

I'm an INFJ, and also a huge MBTI nerd. I've danced for about 3 years total (over a period of 7 years... omg I'm old), in addition to other forms of sex work. This is interesting... I think you can make a lot of predictions about success based on a dancer's personality type, but I disagree on some of your points. I don't think introversion makes you less capable of a hustler. I'm an introvert, and I just socialize faaar less on my off days than when I'm at work. I get so much socializing at the club that I don't hang out with my own friends very often, and for me, it's not a big deal. But in the club, I reserve my energy for customers, and I'm told that I'm bubbly/funny/easy to talk to/etc. I doubt they would even pinpoint me as an introvert.

    N vs. S... I agree. But maybe that's because I'm an N. lol

Thinking vs. Feeling... yes, T's are more calculating and distanced emotionally, but F's have the advantage of easily making genuine connections with customers. At least, I try to connect with everyone on a deeper level, by sort of temporarily convincing myself that I'm attracted to the customer, but I'm not truly attached. I do think F's tend to be more sensitive, but dancing forces you to build a thicker skin, and we're arguably more "in touch" with our emotions/better able to process them, come to terms with the difficulty of our profession, and find a positive meaning in it.

P vs. J... not sure about this one. J's are going to be naturally better at scheduling themselves and sticking to a routine, which isn't a bad thing. They're also more inclined to make long-term plans for the future, whether that involves dancing or a vanilla career.

This is the problem with introverts, it's not that they can't turn up the hustle, they just can't do it all the time. Like you, my dancing has also been very intermittent. I good money, but I would probably make more if I were extroverted.

I'm an INTJ !!! the most rare female type. And honestly I feel viewing dancing as a chess game and the fact I am very strategic at work, is really what makes me a top earner. I always make money off the nerdy smart successful guys hahah

So happy there is another INTJ that's a dancer on here! I always feel like such an outsider at work. I would guess E's might do better at certain clubs due to volume of people and being able to jump around and like the energy, but I am much more conservative with my energy and efficient with where I use it. I am ALL about quality over quantity when it comes to the type of customer I interactive with at work. Like some girls can jump around from guy to guy and hustle lots of dances working their booties off to make 1k... meanwhile I have one guy give me 1-2k using half the effort they did and in half the time. So.. to me, it's all about strategy. Also...the fact I am super smart as most INTJ's are, and a total nerd, usually just blows guys minds and they end up spending whatever I want because they not only respect me, but...they admire me and value my presence as well.

A confident INTJ in this industry is killer. However people are super draining and I end up having no social life due to dance work most of the time :/

Also I do agree that I don't really believe the types can be so generalized in this industry, especially INTJ's considering we are like 1.5% of the female population in general, let alone how many of us are even dancers..... in the US it's probably like... 20-30 girls, total, that are even INTJ lol. so... I don't really think it can be generalized, as different types are much more common than others and also much more drain to certain industries than others.

I'm also an INTJ, and was always a top earner because I focused on the strategy of the "game". I also usually worked day-shifts, as they were quieter. Never one to hang out in the dressing room for long, and mostly kept to myself. I think this gave me the appearance that I was stuck-up, but I really was just focused on the hustle. I actually used type-theory to help me to identify customer motivations, and I would adjust myself to better match their energy. Retired two years and looking to get back into it... which means I am researching and planning Only commenting because I wanted to play devil's advocate with the initial assumptions -- I think we excel, not by matching our environment to our types, but rather by leveraging our strongest functions within our environments. Fun prompt! Thank you.

🙌🏻🙌🏻 I love other INTJ'S!! We need to be friends. This is so cool. I always feel SO out of place in nightlife and SC work because of my introverted nature. But yes I experience the same thing I am never ever in the dressing room and always am focused at work, I have always found it SO weird how if you are A: attractive B: have magnetic or charmismatic energy BUT you are not an extrovert or super bubbly outgoing (which apparently is the assumed norm of ALL hot women) ppl automatically write you off as bitchy or snobby or stuck up. It's freakin weird dude...

like wow just because im hot im suppose to be outgoing or bubbly AND stupid??!
    Damn.

anyhow.... glad at least half of this job is acting/performing because that's the part I love.
im just gonna ramble forever sorry ladies..

I'm an ENTP. No time for bullshit. Very focused and results driven. Naturally outgoing. Made me a great stripper and terrible office worker! Lol this has just come up at my regular job actually. My manager has just been trained in this and had the whole team take the test. I've already been trained in all of this and told her ahead of taking the test exactly what my profile is, how unsuitable for the job I do it makes me and what it means for me as an employee. Basically I should be the team manager - as it is my meetings with my manager are spent with me having to tell her what to do. I'm just very naturally alpha and even though I try very hard to reign it in at work my job requires people who are quite the opposite. I miss being a stripper

INFP, the mediator. I'm good at what I do because I stay out of drama. I brush things off easily and never get into fights at work, not even with customers. If a customer gets out of hand, I lightheartedly tell him to stop, or I walk away. Or, I use humour to diffuse the situation. If I do feel anger or frustration at work, I head to the DR to calm down, and then walk back onto the floor minutes later, cool as a cucumber.

INFP's are one of the most empathetic types, we try to see the good in all people. This allows me to connect easily with most people, and then I get into their wallets. I'm not greedy, but I know how valuable my time is, so I never feel guilty for hustling a man, because that is why they are there, to have a good time and to be hustled. I am a good listener, and I read people extremely well.

I used to be a INFJ, but my personality has changed. Now I consistently score INFP.

This is kind of an old thread but I'm INFJ. Strangely enough I am able to attract my fellow introverts and it'll make me be the more extroverted one. The shy, nerdy type of custies love me. Those are usually the engineers, IT tech guys, and computer programmers. That's not to say that I can't fake extroversion at times and be the life of the party or event. When I'm not working I am back to my introverted self.

ISTJ. Whatever the hell that means. Go-go dancing for ten years, stripping for four. Ready to run away and join the circus since as long as I can remember.
I feel like some of these questions are a little too… rigid, though I substantial portion of the description is correct. I think I’m more of an introvert than what the test says. But I can fake it til I make it, as well.
I agree being an extrovert is helpful in stripping. But I feel like what drives you to do it can adequately make up for it, if you’re driven enough by it. I did a lot of things my personality type supposedly dictated to me I shouldn’t have done. But if you want something bad enough, it won’t stop you.
