Escorting is legal in general because technically it's for being a paid date, a companion to events, outings etc.Prostitution is not {Money for sex}, which is what alot of women are doing but using escorting as a guise to just sell sex.I do believe if you get the license it is public records just as any other license.
The only reason I haven't applied for one is because of the stigma, escort=prostitute.Either way if you're just getting it to cover you for selling the kitty there's always still the possibility of you getting popped/charges for prostitution license or no license.America really should just legalize it & monitor it.
I've only been to Atlanta once but I've never heard of such a thing, I'm curious to know what you're taking about. I worked super briefly for an escort agency in LA and there was nothing like that. Like the last person said even if you just imply that you'll be having sexual relations of any sort you can get arrested, license or not. So if you're worried about it showing up on a background check I suggest you don't bother since idk how it would help you anyways. I think most licenses (dancing or otherwise) show up if someone does a search on you.

Actually, it is real. lol

Atlanta has a very large adult business industry
http://www.fultoncountyga.gov/fcfd-business-license
They include "escort/dating service" to be in the adult business category.
I could see having a license as a benefit if you say for example advertise on backpage (or anywhere public) and some overzealous law enforcement answers your ad. Say they bust you but if you didn't do anything wrong legally they can't charge you with anything......except operating an adult business without a license.
Idk. I'm always wary of giving government my data so It seems to me like only if they are enforcing the laws on this would it be necessary to get an adult business license. Best to consult with a lawyer to see if it would be beneficial to you before getting one.
Using a Doing Business As name instead of your real name on the business license is one layer of privacy. Of course with some simple research the real name can be discovered.

coco789, I'm very sorry for overreacting. I guess I'm being the troll here.
Escorting is prostitution and it's illegal in the US except for a small little county in Nevada. Like in Atlanta here in Texas LE looks the other way until someone complains. That said, remaining anonymous to LE and everyone else has always been a priority. I wouldn't want my real name and address to be available. It it seems getting a license is a great way for LE to know who you are and what you're doing and I don't think that's ever a great idea.

Again lol escorting is NOT illegal, prostitution is.Prostitutes/Prostitution {as the self righteous government/society calls it} are not escorts/escorting.That is a cover used very often to just sell sex. It's sad it's synonymous with prostitution now.At the OP getting a license makes your information public, but again as mentioned you could do a dba. And if you were ever swept up in a raid or got arrested they can't charge you with the non escort license thing but again they could still charge you with prostitution for putting a price on the kitty. It'll just be one less charge.

I think it was a ploy to always be able to press charges. If the girl says "I am not a prostitute we didn't have sex he paid for time" Then they can turn around and charge her with an escort without a license and still can press charges. So you are damned if you don't and damned if you do. I do not think I would do it. I think it is like putting a flag out. Just my $.02

I'm in Nevada
Even here you need a license. Those agencies make you get one, if you dont have it already.
I'm so sketched out by licenses for sex work. It can follow you around, pop up on a background check years later when you don't expect it.
Licensing dancers in WA is such bullshit. It costs dancers $200 a year and so the clubs clean the stage regularly. But what it really means is cops can tell you're a dancer from your car license plate and it will pop up on your background check in other states years later (that happened to my friend). Just my two cents, though. Good luck!
