Default How long did it take you to get comfortable wearing stilettos?

I'm wondering how long it took you ladies to feel comfortable wearing stripper heels.
This, lol, is pretty much my main roadblock in deciding to move forward on whether I should start dancing or not.
I'm a bit of a cluts, I can wear 3 in heels no problem, but thats the limit on my experience.

A few months ago I had gotten a job at a dive SC as a waitress. I was doing my rounds, and did not know there
was a step and busted my ass. Lol. Thankfully it was day shift so there were not a lot of people but i was able to brush
it off (i've embarassed myself enough in my lifetime that i'm pretty much immune to it)
Howeverrrr. If i was on stage and busted my ass, that would be awful.

So i'm wondering, especially to the ladies that dont (or didnt before) usually wear heels:
How long did it take you to learn to walk in them and feel comfortable doing so?

Any tips on how to walk in them? Is there a shape of the heel that is better suited for balance?
Thanks and have a nice Monday!

I wore 4 inch when I started, then switched to 8 inch. It just takes pracrtice. The 8 inch is actually comfortable. It just rakes a little practice. You'll get used to it over time.

If you are having trouble with the heels, try a cone or a block heel. If you already have the sky-high shoes, vacuum! Seriously. Start vacuuming your place. You'll have something to lean on if you need the support, and by the time your whole house is clean, you'll be walking in them like it was nothing. Good luck!

I literally never wore heels before dancing but I started right off the bat in a pair of 6" pleasers and it wasn't bad at all. Dancer heels are totally different than civilian shoes. I'm like a baby deer in even short regular heels, but I'll wear up to 9" easily at work.

All of us have fallen at some point on stage, just brush it off like it was nbd and continue on. Typically the guys are too worried that you might have hurt yourself to be rude/make fun of you. Most of them are amazed that we aren't eating it constantly in the heels haha.

I just brought my first ever Pleasers (7 inch). They are quite comfortable. I'm trying to break them in a little and have had no problems walking in them so far.

Heels in general, it's not necessarily the height of the heel that makes the shoe comfortable or uncomfortable. Quality, support, different styles, all make a difference. Also look for good arch support and padding.

Do you have any pictures of shoes? I know when i got my 3inch i had read that the heel needs to be curved inward, basically, for balance, as opposed to the kind that goes straight down. I wouldn't of even looked for that if i hadnt read about it

    I'm not a total klutz.But I don't walk around like a ballerina either.

It's not as bad as you think. 8 inch stripper heels are actually more comfortable than civvie heels.

Didn't take long. I was at an advantage though so I had always practiced in my mom shoes. I did bust my ass early though because I stepped on pool chaulk that for some reason was left on the stairs leaving the stage. I felt like an idiot because I was new but it had nothing to do with being new.

something like any of these: http://www.pleaserusa.com/regular.as...&ctg=40_7_HEEL
95+% of strippers wear a Pleaser heel with a platform. You'll find your favorite style as you go along on account of us destroying shoes so regularly.

I've never heard of this curved heel thing you mention?

    its basically like this

the heel curves inward instead of being straight down. Its supposed to help with balance and I actually had no issues wearing the pair i got, other than making sure I wasnt stepping on anything, which was surprising because i dont ever wear heels.
How often do you buy new shoes? I'm just thinking this whole thing is going to be too expensive for me to get off the ground, much less if im even any good at it. hmm...

I see. You're going to want to upgrade to a proper pair of platform stripper heels as soon as you can- many clubs may not allow short heels like that as part of their dress code. You should be able to find cheap platform pleasers online on ebay or sites like discount stripper for like $25. The site you posted that pic from actually has lots in her super deals section for ~$40. I know 6" or whatever sounds intimidating but stripper heels are built to be danced in, so you'll adjust to them fast. They're nothing like a regular shoe.

How fast we go through shoes depends on the girl. Some girls seem to need a new pair every few weeks, I like to have 3 pairs on rotation so they get recovery time and have gotten up to a year out of higher quality ones. On average though I'm gonna say most shoes last a few months with heavy use.

I suggest making sure you get something with an ankle strap at the very least. The slide-on mules have no ankle support at all. My FAVORITE for ankle support and ease of use plus hotness, is these:

They fully support your ankles, making it waaaay less likely to twist them. I get the shiny/patent leather ones because they also stick to the pole REALLY well. I have also heard cone heels like these are great, but haven't tried them: http://zigni.com/ebayimages/lg/lg_sweet-439-crs.jpg
