    Default MyLife scam

Not sure how they got my e-mail, I think I signed up many years ago, for whatever reason. But for a couple years now, they've been warning me via e-mail that people could be looking up my background. Now there is a 'potentially new bad report' or something. And two more people have 'looked me up', one from NYC.

Then when I looked at the page, they showed me as still living at an ancient Daytona Beach address, where I haven't lived in 11 years, and haven't even visited in 6. Stayed at that address for a few weeks 13 years ago--though I did continue to use it as my legal address until I moved down here--not even 2 years.

So beware, if they get your e-mail, don't fall for the scam, either looking up faulty background reports, or trying to 'erase' your own.

I got one of these emails.

Years ago they'd forward info about who was allegedly looking for you via MyLife. Unfortunately in my case I believe those people were looking me up.

There are SO many sites like this that they will now try anything to get hits.

That place is annoying! I had to pay to have them remove my information only for them to post my information again. I don't like that they have my current address and such available. I did have an ex stalking me for a while, calling me and hanging out around my place. He eventually gave up once I lied and said that I was married with 4 kids and pregnant again. Sites like these shouldn't exist. What about in the cases of domestic violence where although someone may have a restraining order against the person and move somewhere far away from the abuser and try to hide their location, the abuser can easily find their information through these sites and go hunt them down, possibly doing God knows what.

People finders used to work fairly well when they were free. The past several years they have started charging for information and have become untrustworthy. They will promise to provide you the current addresses and voting records for Amelia Earhart, Jimmy Hoffa and Bigfoot.

I used Mylife for a search one time, and now I get e mail from it, telling people searching for me, or adverse information about me has been posted somewhere. Since I did not use my real name when I signed up for it, I know those notifications are false.
