    Default Tired a lot

    Hi guys,

I just moved to NYC and have noticed a few days where I've been tired a lot upon waking. Any tips?

I usually get a good hour+ of working out a day, long-distance running with a little bit of strength training. However, I've been so freaking tired some days, I'm starting to forego the workouts.

My body type is small-framed but not as toned as is optimally ideal, especially for Manhattan. I'm 31-32 but can pass for younger according to some ppl; not so much once you start talking to me, however.

I had a slow thyroid for a bit, for which I was on meds, but my last doc told me to go off when my tsh showed up as 3. something.

Do you think it's the dehydration from the humid climate? Lack of iron? Bed? Old age, lol?

Dehydration can definitely cause tiredness. Drink a cup of water upon waking up in the morning. How's your diet? Do you eat sugary foods when you first wake up? That can cause blood sugar crash and tired feeling. How many hours ate you sleeping a night? Do you wake up a lot throughout the night? You might want to go to a doctor to get blood work done and see if iron is low, blood sugar levels good, etc.

It's probably lack of iron & also old age.

I used to bounce out of bed, now I creak my way out.

I've been eating fresh pineapple a lot & eating more iron to compensate for my fatigue issues. Unfortunately getting a bit draggy is a part of aging.

Juice. Take in beets and cook black beans. Get a full check up. Since you're in the city, find a good holistic dr. I went a few years ago and did a food allergy test, etc. Drink lots of water.

^ LOL sorry but 31-32 is NOT old age. Hell I'm about to be 34 in a few weeks & I feel more alive than ever. On the days I am super lethargic, my own laziness is to blame bc some days I'll just lay in bed & work from my computer. Other times it's pms related. You're prob just in busy mode & have alot going on I mean shit you did just move to the largest city in the US not to mention prob the craziest. I'd say it's normal. You're just getting adjusted.

Rainy weather can cause sleepiness, fatigue. And obviously thyroid can cause fatigue. If you have a thyroid issue forget about an hour of exercises it should be under that only 5 days a week. You should however be physically active, long distance running huh for what? Your body adapts to running you are not spending much calories with that. But you most def will stress your thyroid out and worn out your knees.
You have to eat 2000 cal + you have to see what foods are not good with your condition.

It's fair to say that. My situation is complicated by old injuries, chronic illness & not working out enough.

I don't have it the worst though. People with blue collar occupations tend to suffer the worst in terms of chronic pain.

Once you start getting really old things just start operating differently. I heard somewhere that you spend the first part of your life killing yourself (through bad lifestyle) and the second half of your life trying to fix everything you did, lol. I would try to visit a Dr. if possible to make sure there isn't something else going on. Also if you moved from a very different state our climate might be messing with you, or even a time zone change. Welcome to NY <3

If you started experiencing getting really tired after the move, then yes, it's probably due to being in a different environment/ climate/ elevation. When I moved from the hot and humid South to Canada, I was very tired as well. I also felt nauseous and just all around blah. It was due to being in a completely different environment.

Over time, your body should adapt. In the meantime, get plenty of sleep and take a multi-vitamin. Also drink smoothies and make sure you eat energizing fruits and vegetables. Sweet potatoes are really good for a boost in energy.

try cutting most starch and carbs.(ones from vegetables/fruits are fine) and also eliminate or minimize stuff that really spikes your blood sugar, get familiar with low glycemic index foods.

How many days are you working?
Not sure where you moved from. You could be experiencing Seasonal Affective Disorder if you're not used to the weather. It's probably a good idea to go see a doctor. Usually SAD is treated with bright light therapy

Sadly bright light, vit D, good eating, even infrared sauna does not help with SAD.
I supplimented myself with a natural multivitamins, vit D, bright light, beef liver, sauna, raw milk, cultured veggies. Yet, almost killed myself how bad my SAD got.
I dont think she got sad. Now is a summer even I got better. but she also could react on pollution, plus in NYC is HIGH RADIATION level and virus pollution from all those people and tourist.
Also I got fatigue from working at night. Just not worthy. Your body is so stressed , cortisol so high that eventually you are getting insulin resistance and after hypoglycemic.

Just an FYI, I just moved from Los Angeles to NYC. I lived and worked in San Francisco for a year during my five year stint in LA, which is when I noticed my skin got fudged for good and it's never been the same since then.

Since I moved to NYC from LA, I noticed a noticeable difference in my tiredness level. Honestly, I haven't been working a lot. I spent my first week in an airbnb running around town looking at rooms before finally finding something literally the day before my airbnb was about to end. The week after I got my place, I commuted 2.5 hours to Jersey via public transit to work at a club. This was only for one night, 11 hour shift. Don't ask why. Lol.

The past week I started I auditioning, got rejected by Ricks, got accepted by subsequent club and put in my three shifts but to be honest, have eyes on greener pastures, so still have the wheels in my head turning.

Since I'm not strip-working a lot, I have another concurrent gig in the industry for money, been doing that too very infrequently but enough to supplement my earnings, as well trying to get my non-industry gig going as well (that, however, I don't expect to pay but it's a job nonetheless).

So I've been kinda busy, but to be honest, busier than I sound because when you tally up the hours, a lot of my stuff is work from home stuff, not too much at the club (11-20hrs a week) and a lot of time this past week at the club has been down time with me singing to myself and chatting with other girls; it is so so so so so freakin' slow, urgh.... Or maybe, I gotta keep shopping for clubs.

What I think my issue is is the humid climate. I don't mind sweating like a pig as I walk .8 miles to and from the grocery store, only to proceed to climb bazillion stairs up my 10 floor+ walk-up. All the .2 miles, .4 miles, .1 miles and .5 miles walking to and from in a humid climate really do add up, and I routinely neglect to drink water. I literally drink coffee by the gallon but I'm not a fan of water. In LA, I honestly think I was a little more sedate and I don't think the weather takes as much out of you as here.

Thus far, I've also noticed I've gotten sick twice, slightly so once, and a three-day thing another time in a three-week time frame. It's as though my immune system is down. Well, I hope it's not the old age...'cause I ain't old yet.

I remember my doc in LA telling me I was severely vitamin d deficient back in December, and she actually prescribed a supplement but I never took it. My iron was ok that time bc of all the sardines I've been eating (I don't like to eat meat) but historically, it's been low. So anyhow, with all this tmi, I got myself a multivitamin and will try to start taking it and not forgetting it.

Mentally, I'm feeling very very good actually, much less vulnerable than I felt my entire time in Los Angeles this very difficult past year I had there. And cross my fingers (hope I don't jinx this) but I've found the guys much more polite, whether at work or whether they are hitting on you in any other place. Just the stupid tiredness, probably from the humidity and untreated vitamin deficiency.

    So water+vitamin d+multivitamin, here I go.

Hopefully, as I get my life in order, I can try to sign up for some sort of health insurance. I wasn't making enough in LA to pay the $200+/month premiums, so I just cancelled but I'll try to get something here and keep everything in check once I do.

Ugh I hate humidity too, I grew up in the south & it was a living hell there compared to out west. I was thinking of traveling to NYC as well next week since I'll be homeless again (my own choice) to get a breath of fresh scenery but meh the humidity reminder sucks lol.

wheatgrass, B12 and exercise always give me a boost. sometimes you don't want to work out cause you're so tired but it actually helps with the energy.

also, maybe it's just the climate change your body is adjusting to.

another thing is i feel amazing when i eat super healthy. it works fast, too like a day or 2 will do the trick. juicing is life literally.
