Default Tried and True Audition Looks

So I always used to go to audition at a new club - that's not a dive - with either a short black tight dress or tight pants and spaghetti top and heels.
Hair down with clip ins and blow out, full glam makeup.

Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I am thinking of going in flats next time, because I feel like I look intimidating and bigger with heels.

I also got told a few times that I was on the heavy side when i filled out paperwork, which they then promptly took back when they saw me naked.

Does anybody have tried and true tricks/outfits to get in the door? I seem to have issues getting hired because of the way i look in street clothes, vs. if they had seen me in my 2 piece they would have said yes I believe.

    Any and all tips welcome.

Ok, personally I would'nt wear flat shoes..
Wear something that shows off your figure like you describe above, not pants though.

I never really thought about it. Usually, I went in jeans & a low cut shirt. Never was interviewed either. Walked in, filled out application & paperwork. Told when the night shift started.

Once I quit a place, just walked out. Was on the phone telling my Mom about it. She was mad at me for not giving two weeks notice & what about my resume. Laughed soooo hard. Told her my resume was my tits. Still this day we laugh about that story. Never was asked about previous dancing experience.

Always walk in the door of any place like you own it. Confidence sells.

Who cares if you look 'intimidating'? You're gonna be wearing heels to dance in anyway.

I think you need to nail down what exactly is making them think you are heavy in street clothes. We can't do that without a picture. Is the dress hugging and creating fat rolls that don't otherwise exist? Are you just naturally curvy and they assume there must be fat? Etc.

We also know strip club managers are 90% morons across the board, so there could be absolutely nothing wrong with your outfit and it's just managers on power trips.

I usually do either skinny jeans with a low cut black tank top & black heels, or tight black low-cut dress. A blingy watch but no other jewelry besides stud earrings. I also carry an understated black designer bag. Eyeliner, lipstick, powder, eyebrows done, but that's it for makeup.

General outfit advice otherwise: No crazy shoes or obnoxious monogram handbags that make you look like a typical dramatic high maintenance bitch. Enough makeup & hair you look put together but not like a kid playing dress-up. I personally would not wear my full Friday night makeup into an audition... I feel it looks like you're trying too hard & a lot of it looks great in club lights but terrible in brighter lighting (such as in an office or the lobby). I love Victoria Beckham's advice of show off ONE asset at a time; for example, if heels & shorts to show your legs off, no cleavage.

Above all though, confidence and a quiet air of knowing you're hot shit will get you in the door.

I auditioned at a club wearing a skin tight dress and got hired, years later returned to the same club in a romper that didn't show/hug my flat stomach tight enough making me look slightly bloated and was declined. My body looks better now than it did then lmao but the loose fitting romper I think gave the manager pre-conceived notions and therefore I didn't a stand a chance( I look younger now too in the face cuz of sHoTs magic lol, so overall I just look better but the romper killed it). Both times I wore heels. Always wear heels , heels are what you wear when you dance so of course for the audition. Shit I wear heels to vanilla job interviews, are you very VERY tall otherwise? Maybe if you're over 6ft and in heels I could see intimidation, but really it usually translates it "hot model" , guys are pervs remember that...they all wanna fuck a hot tall model atleast once lol.

I think the key is to not hide or confuse your figure, really expose all your curves and proportions.
I've auditioned at over 40 clubs ( I have gypsy strip club syndrom lol) , and the method that works is what was previously stated and that is your confidence over weighing any insecurity combined with looking your best.

Remember that we PROJECT our insecurities out onto other when we obsesses over them, so even tho you didn't use your words to communicate to the manager you were insecure about maybe being heavier you maybe said it with your body language and subconsciously they picked up on that and then verbally said it your face confirming your fear when in reality you CREATED your fear.

Humans are animals we run on instinct so prepare your mind to project confidence and sex appeal so it can be on the same wave length as your look !

I also want to mention you need to be shmoozing the door girl, the security guards, the house moms, and the manager the whole time you are auditioning. These are all "mini interviews", these people are getting a feel for you; they all honestly have the power to mention to management that they think you're a bitch or have a bad attitude and you won't get the hire.
Made the mistake when I was younger that it was really just what we look like during the audition and it isn't, your personally has to be at play as well I believe it can make or break an audition at an upscale club.

I never thought about street clothes just always had my makeup and hair done. Then they would look at me in my dress. I would probably wear tight jeans and top showing my shape If I thought about it. Street clothes never stopped me at any clubs.

If you are a few pounds over weight they'll put you day shift or ask if you want to be a waitress.

Some places prefer really skinny girls. Some prefer thick ladies. Some will tolerate small tats & some don't care.

All of them do care about who you walked in the door with, boyfriends or husbands cause trouble. They don't want your man coming in every night to keep an eye on you or pimps. Even if you just came in with a male friend, they assume he is more than a friend.

Leggings and a tight sweater with boots. Lol but i never audition at upscale places. I am thick but not top heavy so i think that has made me appear slimmer than i really am.

My friend is top heavy with a flat stomach yet whenever we auditioned together they always thought she was bigger than me until she took off her clothes. Lol. It's hard for top heavy girls because the wrong fit on a shirt or outfit can make you look bigger than you really are.

Exactly this. I'm not exactly skinny and I'm tall AND I have huge boobs so I look bulky/big in street clothes to the point where I'm turned down cause I look overweight to them. The times I have been turned down they didn't tell me a reason but I just assumed that's what it was. Because when I was hired I have gotten comments that they weren't so sure about me cause I looked big to them but changed their mind once they saw me in My 2 piece.

Maybe wear a tight top that shows your stomach and legging and heels to show off your shape. And wear dark colors.

When I was dancing at about 20-30 pounds heavier (still not fat) I had the same problem with managers thinking I'm on the heavier side when I went to auditions in certain outfits. When I gain weight it all goes to my butt and thighs and never my stomach so I was usually told I'm too heavy by managers when I wore tights and flats. I started wearing knee length dresses and skirts to auditions and I stopped getting turned away at the door so much and was allowed to actually audition and usually got the job.

So yes, a flattering outfit can reduce your chances of getting turned away at the door or having managers be hesitant thinking you are too heavy.

F/e if you have nice, big tits but a little extra weight in the midsection try a low cut wrap shirt that emphasizes your boobs but flatters your stomach. If you have my body type try a knee length skirt or dress with heels. Etc etc.
