Default A conversation between two female co-workers

I was sitting at my desk reviewing expense reports. Two of my female co-workers walked by my desk and I heard the very end of their conversation. One of them is giving the other club recommendations. I knew they were talking about clubs because she specifically mentioned two clubs by name. I would assume that the woman she was talking to had asked her for information because she is considering either dancing or applying for a staff position at a club. Between the two clubs she mentioned, she gave her opinion on which one would be the better choice.

I pretended I did not hear anything and continued to focus on getting work done. I felt it would not be appropriate for me to interupt their conversation or even make any comments or recommendations.

Among the clubs mentioned, I have been to one of them recently. The other I have yet to visit, but plan to eventually.

So now with my questions. If you worked a regular job before dancing, how would you react if you saw someone from your previous job at your club? Would it feel awakward or be no big deal? Has anyone actually seen someone from a previous job as a customer in their club?

I'm not concenred about seeing her, or her seeing me at a club. I am more so concerned whether she would tell any of her friends who work at our current place of employment. There are certain people that don't need to know, because they are the type to judge.

I'd be more apt to think they'd judge you for your apparent penchant of poor tipping over their judgement about a guy going to a strip club. Gasp.
Maybe throw $5 their way and ask them for their silence in exchange?

Your exchange in another thread rubbed me the wrong way- get the pun?

I used to work for a jewelry store on the diamond district in manhattan
I never told any of my coworkers that I once stripped, I was during this time working as a bartender at a restaurant to make ends meet.
The restaurant closed, I casually mentioned to one coworker I was now only bartending at a strip club now but in reality if I was dancing cuz I needed quick cash that week clearly.
So my coworker told the OWNER and the owner sent a manager to come spy on me and she saw me naked on stage lmao, I couldn't even hide in the dressing room at this point because she came in the club while I was own stage.
Next morning 8am I get the "it's just not working out" call from the jewelry store.

Please don't snitch or tell anyone because you may be costing someone something they need, my dream/schooling is in accessory design lol ...that job was crucial to my career and instead of pursuing my career further I turned to just be a full time stripper...kinda sad smh...

Hope you collected unemployment on that store. You can sue for discrimination & wrongful termination of employment. As long as you showed up, worked & did the job. They had no reason to fire you.

Stripping isn't illegal. Nor is it anything to be ashamed of at all.

^ it wasn't worth the trouble to me
i had no other issues there , they were a company based in Japan with two stores in NYC and the owner was conservative lol... im sure he thought it was straight up having sex for money lol...he was much older and didn't really understand shit ....it was a very small store...I don't really hold it against him, tho I regret casually saying it so someone who I thought didn't care either way lol...I thought this chick was my friend and she kinda betrayed me lol....
You're absolutely right tho.. legally they were wrong but I didn't really hold any ill feelings when I was let go... I was only mad at the chick lol!

She broke girl code. You have ever right to be mad. Never tell anyone anything unless you have just as damaging information on them. Some of my ex's try to be evil every once in a while. Until I remind them, I have pics of us together. And I'm sure their wife or boss seeing them all over my social media might be shocked.

My girlfriends, well, we are all bad girls with a past. Those polaroids are in a box buried deep in my closet. One day I will show them to their grown Grandkids for a laugh. They are all actually excited about that day. We are an evil crew. lol

New York State is generally considered to be an "employment at will" state, which means that a private sector employer can pretty much hire and fire as he or she pleases and a discharged employee usually will have no legal recourse even when the discharge is unfair or unreasonable.

^^^I would think she still would have been eligible for unemployment.

But OP- first and foremost, if you are that concerned about it I would not go to either of the clubs they were discussing and go somewhere else. And second, is she was considering going there to dance (as opposed to waitress, or as a customer, or house mom) she is not going to go into the office and tell anyone she was danicng there and saw you as a custie. That doesn't even make sense.

That's what I thought cuz I remember on vanilla jobs you sign the "at-will" papers

With un employment I didn't wanna go out and pretend to look for new jobs and have to send them proof I was looking for the unemployment check lol...I just said fuck it and started dancing 3-4 times a week and got comfortable smh...
