Default Transitioning to VIP host from dancing

Have any of you ladies done this or known any of the girls who have?

The owner of a local club that I'm friends with offered me a VIP hostess job last night. I'm leaning towards being ready to retire from dancing after many years and this seemed like a good option.

Of course we all know people exaggerate money, and he was telling me they average just as much if not more than dancers... But I know at my club, they really do. Any thoughts here?

I assume having been a dancer full time this long that I should have no issues helping with the sale, especially that the guy is already sold on the girl by that point.

Input? Caveats? Things I'm missing or wasn't told?

Usually the clubs i work at hire vip hostesses who are retired dancers. Their job does include some upselling and they get a cut of packages, which on a good night works out to be a substantial amount. I would assume a good vip host outearns many of the dancers- obviously not the ones who get long vips all the time, but those who are less consistent for sure.
I think it's an awesome option for girls who don't hate the club environment but are physically over dancing. Too many injuries etc.

Side note- idk what dress code is for hostesses at your club but my fave hostess noted that when she switched her look to "sexy professional"- i.e. tight fitted blazers, dress pants, more business looking heels vs just sexy/slutty she's had virtually no issues with having to throw guys out for getting grabby. Like she looks like a boss so they take her more seriously.

i don't see any reason not to try it since it sounds like this isn't where you dance so you can go back to dancing or just work a shift here and there on the side at your club if you don't like it that much or don't make enough doing it.

are they going to start you off with the good shifts?

    Thanks girls!

No I wouldn't get weekend shifts but they would be all night shifts.

Ariel, why didn't you like it?

There was a girl on here, Laurisa, I think she was talking about doing that, not sure if she actually did.

I don't know, but depending on what club it is maybe you'd have to be good at turning a blind eye. This is what some hosts have told me over the years or whether they can/can't work at xyz club.

Will they allow you to hostess there during the week and dance at your current club on the weekend for a few months while you transition? You might need to build up a clientele of regs just like a dancer. I know the club I worked at the longest the waitresses (we didn't have specific VIP hostesses) had their reg. customers and favorite dancers and I can not image you will build this up in a week.

@Gia, I'm sure it would be allowed, but it would be not-so-great for me logistically. I am still taking post-bac classes. I expect they would want a minimum of 2-3 nights hosting, and they are long 8-9 hour shifts.... Ugh.
Frankly, at this point I am not interested in cultivating a following or anything, I am interested in hit-and-run customers & spending as little time in the club as possible and getting the eff out (both that night and permanently!) I'm praying I get an acceptance this application cycle so I can move on with my life, gah.

@Starling, that's the impression I get. The more we discuss it the more the shady side becomes apparent. The club is very room heavy and sounds similar to one that's in federal trouble. He was going on about how if you get tipped over X amount they hold it for X time period in case of chargebacks... which sketches me out that there are that many chargebacks AND that the club may not ever pay me... And saying how the hosts wear the Google Glasses and record the guy signing it... Sounds like a big sketchy headache I don't need.

    @Ariel, pm'd you
