I like being alone, I just don't like being lonely.
Damn that's fucked up for them to treat their own girls/women that way.
I'd like to lump in American rape culture with that. I don't think we're too far behind India with how some of these men here view and treat women.
I have to agree and disagree. We do have date rape, and sex cult. In America, we don't have a rape culture in general, we just have sick individuals.
He said it like it's a common sense.
And I don't believe there is a lawyer in America will openly say things like this one.

Openly is the clue word. That's sad though.
Thanks for posting. I happen to see the extra film clips on pbs.org and the film creator giving a Ted talk.
I think all rapists are mentally ill. I'm sure if given psych evaluations they'd score high on sexual deviancy, psychopathy/sociopathy, and other stuff too. So this says something about their culture if they allow this type of behavior and thinking about women.
I do think in certain parts of India, the men are a bit more extreme in how they make their women cover their entire bodies to prevent men lusting after them. In a sense this is victim blaming.
They do that here too, maybe not as extreme, but I have heard so many times how a woman or girl is "wrong" for wearing skimpy clothing and should expect men to sexually harass them if they do. I've heard people say "pr*stitutes" can't be raped. Etc.
Even a recent thread starting with a troll claiming he didn't know he was sexually harassing someone he hired in his home ended with well known male member on this forum confessed he respects women in his home and office (where the rules against sexual misconduct are clear cut and punishable) but anything goes when he hits the strip clubs and didn't believe strippers could be sexually harassed/assaulted (so he knew he could get away with acting like a sick perv with no repercussions). I would quote his post but the entire thread was deleted. Hmmm I wonder why? I know you may disagree but I think Americans have a problem too. They brush that shit under the rug.
Indian discrimination against women is slightly more extreme, more blatant and out in the open. Our discrimination against women is more subtle and covert (ex men creating laws regarding women/their bodies especially abortions from rapes, victim blaming {why were you wearing that? Why didn't you fight back? You must have really wanted it?}, rape kit backlogs, rapists getting child custody, marital rape, under reporting rapes due to stigma, etc.)
But as far as rape. I haven't any statistics but I do think India probably has more instances of rape. Even though I think America has some flaws in how society as a whole views women, if I had a choice I'd still rather live in America than India.
Also the end of the clip you post mentioned the statistics on global rapes. There are men in America and other countries that think like that creep in the film.
As long as they can suppress women into believing they are second class citizens they can get away with this type of behavior. It's a good thing women in India stood up and protested against this.

Link isnt working for me
I googled the word indias daughter and saw it featured here http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/f...dias-daughter/
It shows the clips and the trailer
I saw this. It is horrifying.

Less than 1% of rapist in America will ever see a jail cell. There are thousands upon thousands of rape kits sitting on shelves all across this country that are degrading. Cases that will never see the light of day. So out of the 40% of the rapes reported means very few of them will ever go to court.
We do have a rape culture because women are not valued here either. Everyone tells victims to report the crime, but truth is more than likely will never see a day in court. Crimes against women are not investigated or considered a real crime.
We only have the illusion that we have a justice system here.

Sometimes when law enforcement doesn't help, Indian women will take action on their own.

And a similar article from same site
On how India is supposedly the worst country in the world to be a woman. They only count forced vaginal sex with a penis as rape?!?
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-bad-for-women
I also think they do this gang rape thing as a means of extra power. They know a woman could fight off one predator but fighting off multiple people is less likely
I hate rape culture anywhere because of the victim blaming. You commonly hear , "She shouldn't have been wearing that", "She must've wanted it because she smiled at him/danced with him/wore the color red/whatever kind of nonsense". It's disgusting how some women are forced to marry their rapists and how in some countries, women can be stoned and beaten to death, just for being raped. In the U.S., I can tell you that it's not much better. Cops will ask you questions over and over and try to make it seem like, "Did you say yes and then change your mind? Why were you hanging out alone with him?" When they do rape kit if you say you're not a virgin, have a boyfriend, or on birth control pill, you're just seen as some promiscuous girl who must've been egging the rapist on. Its even tougher for sex workers because the law seems to believe that we can't be raped. Rape culture is awful everywhere. It is sad.

You would think that after seeing a serial rapist and murderer brutally stabbed to death by 200 women, it would discourage others from engaging in the same behavior, but apparently not.
From:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akku_Yadav
In 2012, Akku Yadav's nephew, Amar Yadav was stabbed to death following similar circumstances.
Why people always talk about men rapist and never about women? I have met woman like that.

Because over 90% of rapes are committed by men & 80% of the victims are females. Thus the likelihood of a man raping you is much greater than a woman doing it.
It is a rarity for a female predator to also be operating alone & not out of co-ersion by a male. It can happen, but it is rare.
Ikr! I thought the same thing except I thought about finding the hottest bottle of hot sauce. A glass bottle so it could be broken and sharp edges used as weapon or the sauce itself poured into someone's delicate body parts.
I always thought people who carry hot sauce in their purse were weird until now.

^LOL. I admit that I allow myself a few moments of ultra-violent comic book revenge fantasising every now and then. Well OK, it's actually every time a man annoys me.
The other day I was at a picnic and someone had one of these wine glass holders which has a spike to put into the grass so you don't spill your drink...I made a note to get a set as I thought it'd be a good weapon to have that also doubles up as something useful and an excuse if I ever got stopped by the police.
It should fit in my handbag next to the hot sauce.

In Florida, an Indian man had his parents fly in all the way from India to help him beat his wife.

Me too, but I would like to see the three of them spend some time in prison first.
