    Default Entry Level Jobs

Hey guys. So I'm looking to start a new career (a "real" career) and get my foot in the door of the vanilla workforce. I'll probably always strip on the side and do adult related things for extra $$. Anyway, I graduated from a technical training program last month (EKG technician) and also got CPR certified. When I was in school there was a cardiology office that was hiring techs and were willing to train those without previous experience, but they are no longer hiring! Bummer. It's very hard finding EKG jobs because a lot of places prefer to hire LPN's or Medical Assistants instead of just techs. Also, the majority of places require previous experience in direct patient care...which I do not have. I applied for several Patient Care Tech jobs because they do mandatory training for all newly hired applicants and its an entry level job in the medical field...but I have not heard back from any of them! It is extremely frustrating. I'm gonna still keep trying but keep my eyes open for any other good opportunities. What are some good entry level jobs that are easy to get hired without any experience and are willing to train? anyone have any experience as a PCT or EKG tech?

If you're dancing on the side, why not consider something where you won't get paid such as an internship or volunteer work?

I'm not a student I can't do an internship. And I'm looking to start a career and get paid, volunteer work wouldn't work.

What if you got an entry level job as a phlebotomist? My best friend works in a hospital as one. Might be a good way to get your foot in the door

Maybe network with some doctors or nurses in the meantime.

Also try a career counseling center in your local area. They have them at universities and I believe they're open to the public.

If you're going to continue to dance on the side why not bite the bullet and go to school to be an RN? If you have the ressources and your goal is to have a career not just a job with that training you'll be way more in demand and command a much much higher salary than a phlebotomist. You could start at a community college and transfer halfway through to a state school- there are a lot of strategies to keep your education costs down. My friends who are LPN's right now really regret not getting a bachelor's degree- they feel their pay is not what it should be and they can't work at the best hospitals because those magnet hospitals want a more educated staff...

Thanks everyone...I got an interview for a job working at an employment agency doing customer service. I know its not a medical job but its something and they have a lot of potential for growth. I could do that, dance on the side, and maybe take some nursing courses. At least with this job, I'll have on the books work experience to put on my resume so that if I decide to switch careers, I'll have more of a work history.

Hey everyone, just thought I'd give an update...I've been at my current job for 3 weeks now and I love it! I work as a hiring specialist for an employment agency and its actually a lot of fun. I interview people applying for jobs and set them up with interviews directly for the company they want to work for. I want to work there for at least a year to have something on my resume so I can start a career for myself. Thank you for all the suggestions!
