    Default Tip outs

Who do you tip and do you base it off a percentage?
    Do you tip management ?
Do you do it based off how helpful they were or club requirements ?

    I'm asking because I'm confused.
I feel like everyone expects a high tip but I could just be overthinking
I worked as a dancer for years at two clubs in NJ that basically you swiped a card in and out of dances and VIPs and you gave the fee that the screen said at the end , and the rest went in your purse. It was logged on the computer but only you knew what you made.
Both of those clubs had like a DJ top of $20 or $25 , the one club didn't allow you tip more than that, some DJs didn't accept more, but generally I gave DJs 10%.
The manager didn't cash you out and no one tipped them ever , you just didn't need to. If you tried to they'd refuse it. You tipped the waitress when she got you drinks and would give her extra when she brought your drinks to vip.
If the door guy or security had to stay late bc of you or go out of their way for you , you'd tip them like $5-$10, but other than that like $5 for walking you to your car if they did.

Now I live in Los Angeles and just started dancing here, and where I work now you have a house fee that's relatively low ($15-$45) depending when you come in. They take five from every dance and 35 from every 100 vip
But the way they do it is the customer pays at the register upfront and at the end of the night the manager cashes you out by the DJ booth. So the manager and dj know how much you made that night.
I typically give the DJ 10% to 15% sometimes more but never less (ex one night I made $600 and tipped the DJ $100 bc he was really helpful) but usually I only make like $150-200 there (twice I've made nothing) so I usually give him a 20 and I tip the manager a few singles for cashing me out (depending on how much I made like usually I tip him or her a little less than the DJ ) and the door guy/ security I tip $5-6 if they walk me outside otherwise I honestly never see them.

But like I've seen people say to tip 20% to dj 10% to management and 5% to security but like to me that's rediculous giving 30-40 percent of the money your getting after the club already takes their cut i(in this area it's usually 20/50% given to the club )

I've had nights where I worked my ass off but after tips and fees brought home so little I was sure I needed to get a better system of who I tip and how much lol.

I'm a cheapskate because these guys do get paid by the club and their jobs are infinitely easier. Also I have encountered most of them are super entitled It truly depends on their attitude and how well they do their job.

Most places here have a min along the lines of $5-$10 manager, $7-$10 DJ, $5-$20 door.

I only tip managers and bouncers the bare minimum unless they do something helpful like point me to a guy with money (then I kick them 10% of it). I will tip until they do something to get it revoked; like, I stopped tipping management at my old club because a guy ripped me off one night and the manager did nothing; I won't tip door staff at my current club over the already outrageous $20 minimum because they rarely do anything helpful and often complain they don't make enough (they easily clear $150 even on dead nights when half the girls make nothing).

Technically my current club is a 10% min to DJ but I have never ever abided by it. 2/3 of them do fuck all for me and play shit music. They get like $10-20 even if I cleaned house.
I have worked with DJs in $7 min clubs though who are grateful and kind and helpful for every dollar. They got a min of $15 and often $25-$30.

That's just me though. I don't believe in making us the cash cows that have to pay for all the staff AND be the draw for customers. Some clubs forget they couldn't exist without us. I refuse to tip above minimum or zero if I can get away with it, unless you have earned it.

I'm am very careful, cautious, and smart with my tips.
I do not reward bad behavior, I have been fired/quit firm places for refusing to pay a tipout and I've also tipped people hundreds of dollars at once; I'm the EXTREMELY CIRCUMSTANTIAL TIPPER.

If you suck dick for a Dj I will go out of my way to forget and avoid tipping , by suck dick I mean - rude as fuck, terrible músic, and a complete pervert/tries to get me to SUCK THEM lmao. They do not get paid from me and I don't care if a club axes me for it, I always pay the club money in my house fees IM NOT GOING TO GIVE MORE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY TO A SHITBAG lols

If you treat me well I will spoil you, I will tip out everytime I make money even if you didn't help me that shift , I play supreme favorites.

The way I see it, i cater to those who help my business prosper, if you are making it harder for me to make money (reasons given above-trying to sexually assault me, shitty music, etc. etc. lols) I just can't bring myself to give over even a penny.

In NYC there is a fucked up host tipping culture where basically if you don't tip the host you might be finding yourself out of the whole sell entirely so I play my politics game, if I know the host might kick me out of the room or even completely not let me sell anymore rooms there again I will tip that Fuck even if I hate him cuz he has the power smh, and again I play favorites ...scratch my back I scratch yours . I been and seen girls boxed out by hosts meaning they will ignore you when your are trying to get a room or they will even tell the customer shit "you can't afford it" and other dumb shit to make the customer either leave the club or go with one of "their" girls.
I'm so fucking cunning NOW this shit don't happen to me anymore cuz I make every host my best friend from day one lol but when I first started this shit gave me the ultimate stress and trauma ....cuz even if you DO tip them out ur ass they still might box you out lol.....they are basically shady pimps after all these hosts smh...even if you give them your body AND tip them they could still decide they not fucking witchu and ur done at that club lol...it's so dumb but it is why it is. I tip minimum $80 for an hour and have gone up to tipping half my pay sometimes to keep hosts happy which when I look back on it I regret cuz it didn't really help me in the run other than allowing me to continue working at a club where hosts expect you to work for free basically .....

Housemoms i spoil cuz they gotta deal with a lotta shit and usually they make food , have tampons, etc. which ALWAYS helps me make money even if they are a bitch. I tip bitchy housemoms I tip nice housemoms I tip them all and I tip them all extra cuz I always use their stuff. If you think about t they actually have a hard job because strippers are crazy as fuck and they have to play big momma to them so in my opinion they deserve a lil extra almost always ...just my opinion tho I know some girls that hate tipping bitchy house moms lol...

Bartenders and barbacks get tipped exactly as I would tip them at a regular bar, $2-$5 for every drink/favor. Sometimes I tip extra if they are really fast or have a great personality that makes my customers happy. I also make my customers tip them if they are being flirty & fun, I've gotten waitresses some fat tips before lol. If they are catty and rude I will just stop ordering from them all together, move my business away from their bar to the floor or the champagne room lol.

Security guards get tipped if they walk me out or do me a favor (pointing out a money custy, removing a jerk off Custie from the club, etc.). Otherwise they don't get nada from me , unless we have a good history like I said before. I've been known to tip a security guard who is always looking out for me/is my friend a random hundo here and there if I make killer money that night. I loooooovvveee to reward good behavior .

Lastly management I tip if the club has to stay open later than operating hours cuz I have a customer, because they have to keep working and I feel I owe them. I also tip them if they act as a host/security guard and point me to a good customer. I've never had a maneger deny a tip but I've also never had a manager ASK for a tip either...

End of the day not tipping the right people can get a stripper socially ostracized at a club and also steiaght up fired, each club has a different set of politics and a different set of hands out lol. Part of playing this game is finding out who in each club has the wheels that can be greased in your favor....

So as a general rule of thumb I typically only reward good behavior unless I know that this person has the power to fucking up my future earning and then I reward bad behavior too but I'm as stingy as possible with it lol

I forgot that if I get some exhorborant amount of tips on stage and the Dj witnesses it I usually hit him off extra, but if he's a real big douche hole I still won't tip him exrta.

I have a serious problem with 90% of DJS tho idk why I've only met like 2 cool Dj's in my whole entire stripping history and those Dj's deserved thousands; it would break my heart actually when my favorite Dj would get bullied by girls and not tipped for working hard and catering to everyone and playing great music and not being a perve. The girls at the club where this heaven sent Dj worked walked all over him tho, so I wonder if the Dj's have developed into jerks because if they are nice the girls won't respect them? I dunno man...... lol that's just a theory tho...I still have an epic crush on that one Dj(he was cute AND a good Dj AND A good person)...those girls don't know how good they have it with him lol!!! They were seriously so mean to him like he was a BAD Dj ...this was on Long Island btw...I was fired from his club for not tipping the hosts there so isn't that funny!! Smh

And bathroom room attendants I forgot I tip them a bunch all the tip anywhere from $1-$100 depending on how good of a night/week I'm having. I love going to the bathroom to collect myself and spend periods of time in bathrooms doing all kinds of various things AND they gotta be in a bathroom for 8hrs!!! So gross!! They deserve fat tips from me, all the time.

I also sometimes hit off the people who run funny money for politics reasons as well, not cuz I want to or cuz they did me a favor, I tip them because they know exactly how much I'm making and have the power over the funny money ...

Makeup and hair artists too I almost forgot! A bunch of Manhattan clubs and Delilahs in philly and scores in Atlantic City all have hair and makeup artists and I tip them if I use their stuff/they beat my face , I tip extra if job well done, I tip minimally if they suck at their job. I never tell them they suck tho I will just fix it to how I like it when they aren't looking, telling them I don't like their art is not worth the drama it brings lol. And letting them know by not tipping is the same thing...art is subjective ...if I don't like their style it's my fault. They still did their job regardless.

    Thank you guys haha
I appreciate the breakdowns. I've never worked anywhere with the VIP hosts thank God, I've also never worked anywhere with a house mom.

Yeah, circumstantial is the right word. And Nadia is right about getting the 'powers that be' on your side and knowing what you can push for limits. It depends how you carry yourself as well, and it also depends on if you make money.

I do as I please, and get away with not tipping 10% and leaving after 3 hours instead of 5 because I'm not a moron, a drama queen, or a drunk. I'm here to make my money and go home. I make the club a good amount of money off rooms and I always order drinks even if I don't want one, just to kick the club even more profit. I always make my stage on time. Etc. Management respects all that.
I also make a point to shoot the shit with them or at least say hi to them.

The girls that are drama queens and drunks and always missing stage... they get charged for every dollar even if they made $20, and will get in trouble for not tipping enough, simply because they make management's life difficult.

I have also found that being rational and calm with male staff works. I've forgotten to pay my house at my old club and the manager (who had severe Napoleon complex) threatened to fire me. I said "Ok and how then do you propose you'll get your $40? Cause I'm not gonna pull it out of the ATM and then get fired". You could watch that overlooked detail sink in I paid it later and he looked SO sheepish and then kissed my ass every time after.

House - at my club is anywhere from $0 - $65 (depending on what time you come in).

DJs - I always come in with a $15 tip out ready for them (the min is $5-$10, my club is a hold in the wall). They positively impact my income so I reward good behavior.

Bouncers - they get minimum $5-$10. They don't do squat for me.

No required Manager tip out, no required door host or VIP Host tip out. I will however tip a host or bartender if they lead me in the right direction and I make money off of that customer. They helped me so I'll pay it forward.

Even with being in the epitome of our slow season, I always try to never go below the min tip out.
