Hi all,
Haven't posted in awhile but years ago I posted about BV and yeast infections that I had been getting frequently (back to back pretty much). Seemed like treatment would only help for a little while. Anyway, everything seemed fine for a couple years then I started getting the same symptoms and I was sure it was BV so i did a boric acid treatment that was my normal go-to. Except this time it also felt funny to pee (didn't exactly hurt, just felt weird) and the boric acid didn't help at all. Went to the dr and she said it was nothing (all STI's were clear, no yeast, no BV). But it didn't go away so I went to another dr and she tested me for something called mycoplasma which turns out to have some of the same symptoms and she said it could be linked to why I so easily got BV and yeast or why I thought I had them. Anyway, this is a new STI (newly identified as one, not new to medical science) that can be spread in more ways than just sexually although using a condom reduces your chances of getting it. The symptoms were mostly light vaginal irritation, feeling weird when I pee (sorry thats a bad description), some pain during sex, and abnormal discharge (not quite like BV but just off). It can lead to PID later on and also infertility if not treated. It is not on a regular STI panel screening so if you are concerned you should ask for this test specifically. It is treated with a single dose of antibiotics and your partner must be treated too. So glad I got tested for this instead of just sticking to a constant stream of ineffective treatment for what my doctor thought was only BV. Not to scare anyone, just keep this on your radar! Here's an article for more info:

*there's no way for me to know how long i have had this since i've never been tested for it but i could have had it in conjunction with BV and yeast and this is why i felt I was getting them "back to back" and felt the symptoms never "fully" went away
