Hi all,
Mycoplasma has been newly categorized as an STI. It existed before but researchers weren't sure if it was sexually transmitted until recently. It is not currently part of a regular STI screening so if you feel you have symptoms you must ask for it specifically. Symptoms can be similar to BV or even like a mild UTI. Untreated it can cause infertility and PID later on and also increase your risk for HIV. Condoms will reduce your risk of contracting it and for now it is not known to be passed on orally and via anal sex. I will be requesting it when I get my regular STI testing done.
