    WWW Let's talk MICROPHONES

What's a good stand alone Microphone? Low cost, mid range, expensive?

My son is looking at some $100+ Micro just to play video games, which I think is outrageous!.. But I can use it to with cam.. So I said "Let me ask the experts first!!" haha

Camgirls are WELL VERSED on TECHNOLOGY..

So opinions girls? What do you find works the best?

I second what PGD said. Blue yeti and Snowball mics seem to be the industry standard (when I say industry I'm more so taking about tech industry as in camgirls, gamers, youtube content creators, podcasters, etc).

I got the snowball ice and regret it because the volume isn't as good as I would like even with the windows microphone audio volume settings all the way up. Most guys can hear me but occasionally I get one who has trouble. The sound quality is very very good but just not loud enough to suit me. I've read that the more expensive blue snowball has better volume than the cheaper ice model and I wish I had gone with that one.

I think I am going to try the Yeti and see if my volume improves.

The Blue Yeti picks up everything. To a fault almost. A few weeks back I had a chest cold and the mic picked up my weezing. It was on the floor!

I had to play around with the settings to increase the "noise". That's like the stacticky machine type of sound you may hear when listening to a recording. Once I was feeling better I toned it down and now it's back to being awesome. Its a great mic but it does pic up a lot. A pop filter would have probably taken care of that. I have eye on another mic by apogee for other projects. http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/mic This isn't necessary for camming at all. But the quality of this thing looks really good and it connects to smart phones. I like to do a lot of things on the go and I would be able to maintain a high level of quality even when I'm away from home. Like taking phone sex calls from the parking lot at the bank.

The Blue Yeti is my favorite choice for the money and yes, it's very sensitive but that's a bonus because you can be quite far away from it and it still picks up sound so if you're a performer that does a lot of movement, it's the better choice.

The other microphone that is not as sensitive, (you need to be closer to it), is the Audio Technica ATR2500 USB Cardioid Condenser Microphone. It's a good price, picks up great sound as long as you within a foot of it and USB powered.

    Default Corded Earbud/Microphone

    Hey all,

I have a ton of construction projects with giant machinery going on two sides of my house and it is loud. I'm looking for a corded earbud/microphone that is good at cancelling out background noise. even if it's a microphone I can put on my desk, I'd like to consider it. Something that only picks up sound if I'm in a foot radius will be great.

I recently bought an earpiece/microphone earbud set, but it doesn't cancel out any background noise. I do not want to use a bluetooth earpiece at all, just a corded one, even if I need to get an extension cable. I did buy a 2 meter extension cable for the corded mic/earbud I bought the other day that I can use on another setup.

I'd like to look at the earbud/mic option first and then standalone microphones as a secondary option. I read about the blue yeti. Will that pick up background noise?

    TIA!

You guys should take a look at the Plantronics Brand of microphones. They make corded earbuds and corded headsets. As well as bluetooth earbuds. They have it all.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=i...d=K9PMID9A5EMD

FYI you dont need the mic to be compatible with your webcam. Its the operating system that runs your computer you should be concerned with. In your logitech software settings you would disable the microphone on your c920 to avoid any issues and then assign your new mic.

I've been looking for something like this!!

Super paranoid about my neighbors hearing my Skype shows... not necessarily my voice, but all the different dudes... I've bought a couple pairs of cheap bluetooth headphones, but they just aren't cutting it.

This is the one my husband has and Ive used it for phone calls several times. He got it on ebay for around $80, I believe?

Ive never used it for skype or live streaming for fear of losing a connection in the middle of a show. However if I had the issue of having to keep the volume down I would definitely look into it. This particular model ^ cancels out all background noice while enhancing the quality of your voice. My callers were very receptive to it and Ive noticed it as well when I talk to my husband on the phone.

I have the voyager and the bose bluetooth headsets and while they are fantastic for phone use, on the computer, there are just too many hassles. random disconnects, audio/video getting out of sync, etc. That's why I'm now going wired. now, when the bluetooth earpiece is working perfectly, the noise cancellation on both of them are amazing!

I use the Samson Meteor Mic USB Studio Microphone (Chrome), it's about $80 and it works for me every time! I bought it AGES ago when I was doing some audio-novel stuff and the recordings always came through crystal clear >_<
So far I've never had anyone on cam complain about my volume or my background music. (Plus it picks up the sound of my spanks beautifully ) Also I love the super cute retro style
    Hope that helps!

I bought the Plantronics Encore Pro 530 today and I freaking so love that thing so freaking much! I bought a 3 meter usb 2.0 extension cable for it and it still works beautifully! absolutely zero construction noise heard. I'm pretty sure I could do solely audio stuff/clips with this if I wanted to. I'm blown away by the sound quality

Please report back on how this works out. My first headset was a usb Logitech and I sometimes use it for making audio recordings. But that particular model doesnt cancel out background noise.

I'm wondering if a 9ft cable is easy to move around with and perform during a show?

In your case I definitely wouldn't bother with bluetooth. I would go with USB connections and extended ports. There are too many variables that can go wrong with your connection if you rely on bluetooth, especially since it's not native to your pc. What if your pc doesn't respond because the drivers aren't universal or whatever? Too much to think about.

I've done a couple shifts with my new setup and definitely won't be going back to any other setup unless I don't have outside noises interfering with my shows/live streaming. The long cable is fantastic for me as I can grab different outfits out of my closet, walk around, or whatever. Super happy now that I no longer have audio syncing or bluetooth disconnection issues at all

I'd be curious if anyone complains about the way it looks. If guys just don't care, that would make things easier. I keep looking at headsets that I think would "hide" well, and not fall off in doggy style and all that shit.

Mostly I'd just like to be able to hear things better during Skype shows and not have all the camming noises audible to guys while I'm online. Today I tried using a headset with my computer while playing a video game - holy shit, the sound quality was good! Like there are sounds in game that I never even knew existed. I feel like an ass because clearly my speakers suck, and I'm often unsure about what guys on Skype are actually saying. A headset would also be better for me than a Blue mic because my dog snores and farts loudly and frequently, so noise cancellation... yeah.
