Default Is it common to work at more than one club?

    Hi guys,

this is my first post! I have an interview on Thursday and am keeping my fingers crossed as I have zero experience dancing and no idea if its something I could be good at, ahh.
Anyway, I was wondering if it is common for dancers to work at more than once club? There are two more clubs I am considering and i don't know if I should wait to apply until after my first interview and if I did apply, would it be okay to work at two clubs?
Hopefully someone can enlighten me .
I am located in Victoria, Australia.

Hi there. Yes, you can work at more than one club if you want to. As long as you can stick to the schedule that you told the manager that you will work and you show up to work on time, you should be fine. For example, if you wanted to work at club #1, 2-3 nights a week and then go and work at club #2 a few nights a week. I think as long as you can commit to working at both, show up on time, no excessive call offs or no shows, you can do it. I've done the same many times.

Yes very common. I work at two currently. A lot of club owners/managers don't want the same girls on stage every night. So if you only work 2-3 days it sometimes works better. But they know you're going to need more work.

I think the only problem can arise if one club is suffering and you have the owner/manager wanting you to work more. I've had that issue years ago where I worked at two clubs but one club was doing bad & they didn't like I was working at a club that guys came to see me at.

I've worked at clubs where it was in the contract that you couldn't work at another club or private agency

    ^^

Usually when I've encountered this I've been working a week or more at X club (i.e. every shift) through an agent so it's not like you could work anywhere else at the same time, unless you tried to do dayshift somewhere I guess.

For clubs where you just walk in and audition this shouldn't be a problem.

Some clubs will try to "shackle" you to their poles. Like the ladies or door guys will gossip and get the word back to managers/owners if they see you at the competitor's club and they could passive aggressively take it out on you.

    Just discreet about it.

^^ true, but I have only seen girls get fired over this if they're perceived to be leading an exodus. Be discreet and you'll be good.

Yeah we had a blabbermouth trying to lead an exodus a few years ago from my old place in Horsham to my current place. I usually keep my mouth shut. Why lead ants to your picnic?

That's how it is in providence. At least at the foxy lady they'll fire you if you work at any of the other clubs in the whole state! Personally I think it's ridiculous. But I don't think this is a common practice. You should be fine, like she said just be discreet.

Yesss girl. Some clubs will try to monopolize you, or pull a loyalty card. Ha! Do your thing. You're an independent contractor. Unless they're paying your taxes and giving you benefits, you owe them nothing!

I think it's SMART to work multiple clubs, especially if you do this full-time.

I'm on roster at multiple clubs in multiple parts of town. They are all very different. My main club is close but the kind where the money is sporadic; either jack shit or stellar. Once every other week, I call 2-3 regulars to one of the other clubs, and get a change of scenery and a guaranteed good $$ day.

There's a 'famous' dancer out here who has been doing this for like 20 years... She has basically a stable of regulars and I think she works 4 different clubs each week. She just schedules guys and is in CR for the whole shift. It helps her angle that she's NOT at the same club all the time; she's a limited time opportunity so they all bust their ass to get in that one day a week.

They don’t like it, but be discreet and it shouldn’t be an issue.
