    Default Hair extensions: healthiest method?

So, I spent the entire summer fixing up my blonde and lightening even more. After several salon visits, each stylist cut my hair shorter in order to keep it healthy.
It grows out fast, but it's just a little above my shoulders. Do not like / do not want.

My patience is getting low waiting for it to grow. I haven't touched clip in extensions since 8th grade, but they sure do sound tempting right now. I've looked into other more permanent methods (microbeading, tape, sew-in, etc) but they all seem to come with these scary horror stories about mattifying and basically ruining the actual hair in the scalp.

I've been trying to avoid clip ins, just because I want a more permanent solution rather than putting those in every single day; but I also don't want my hair to become more damaged than it already is. That is the reason my stylists cut it so short!

Has anyone ever had permanent extensions as of recently? Are they really that bad? Just get good clip-ins and put the effort in??
Forum search comes with 2010 and later. Nothing really of what I'm looking for either.

I have tape ins.... I got 3 packs.... worth the $$$$. They have been a breeze to take care of. I HATE putting in clips ins.... never look good when I do them either... not the case with my tape ins. I have hot heads right and I really like them.

I second the tape-ins, I love mine. Actually have nice long hair that's easy to brush and maintain and it looks so natural. If I tell someone it's extensions they say they would never be able to tell cuz it blends so well with my natural hair.
