So currently using Aveda Smooth Infusion leave in, it works well, but I need a good (gentle as possible) flat iron too?
Thanks!

I have this one and swear by it. As someone who bleaches and tones the crap out of my hair and straightens it all the time for work it's really important that I'm minimizing damage as much as possible.
This iron adjusts every 10 degrees from 270 to 450 so you can use the exact minimum amount of heat you need (because most people are cooking their hair with waaaaay more than they actually have to).
It's pricey but mine has lasted 3 years so far with almost daily use and if it died I would buy another without hesitation.
Edit: I actually have the 1" version not the 1 1/4" one but basically the same thing just obviously one is wider.

This is what I use and I've noticed a lot of the stylists at my blow dry bar use it too! I love it!

I have this one. It's very inexpensive (even the special edition one I got) but I've been using it 4-6 days a week for about 4 years now without any issues. I have fine but thick hair and it glides nicely. Sally's has really good return policies if you don't like something.

Thanks a lot, Ladies!
SuperJ, I emailed that co. asking about cost (I'm in US).. you're so right, I bleach/color my hair, I have a lot of hair but it's fine texture, when my stylist cut it last week, she flat ironed it first, it looked great! I don't like the higher heat setting

I mean, seriously, try the Aveda Smooth Infusion tho..
Ok, now my hair's completely dry, put in the smooth infusion oil product (I use it on ends) then I ran a soft boar bristle brush thru, my hair's not 100% straight, but damn close enough, also it has the volume too
One of the shampoo girls @ my salon uses the shampoo, she loves it (& it's a non-Aveda salon)
It lasts awhile too
Just saying

This one ships to the US, $10 shipping (in CAD): http://vancouverbeautysupply.com/sto...ocaura3-1.html
Also found their amazon store if you like using Amazon. They don't have the identical iron though.
As a person, who has very thin and dry hair by nature, I use a straightening brush (it is more gentle, takes less time to style hair, less harmful to your hair and safer for everyday use) If you want you can read the difference between the flat iron and straightening brush , as an option.
But there are so many options on the market, so I'm quite sure you'll find the best option for you whether its a flat iron or a straightening brush.

Late to the thread but....the CHI iron is still super popular where I live....It retails for about $120. Probably less online.
I don't iron my hair as much, the texture changed. I use a Conair one, works fine with my hair texture (coarse.)

I saw about an iron HSI Pro flat iron, very reasonable, many good reviews..
However, I'm pretty happy w/the Aveda Smooth Infusion styling prod. I don't even use heat w/it. and/or the other stuff, it's from Walmart, 15.00 for a big tube, by Ken Pavis s smells really great too

My best friend is a hair stylist and recommends the babyliss, it does seem nice when used on my hair at the salon. Anyone have this one? I need a new straightener soon as well and am seriously considering getting it
I have one, and Baybliss is the best straightener I have ever used. I used to use CHI, but I really like the Babybliss better now. You can change the heat settings. It has specific numbers instead of just "low, medium or high" and comes with a guide on which number to use depending on your type of hair.
I always do my hairstyle myself and have so weird curly hair, I always hate it, because it takes a lot of time to straight. If you want to choose a good one you should look at some details like the temperature settings, the speed of heating up, surface material, the width of plates, does a flat iron have a swivel cord and other useful features. I use this site to look at the most popular and choose best for me with functions that I need. Also always look at the price and search for the brand. Sometimes its very useful and good brands can have unknown and cheaper model, but still very good.

I couldn't find a Babyliss in any store near me when I was in the mood to buy one so I settled with the best one they had at Sally's. Like it was said before, just make sure it has an actual temp dial and, if I remember correctly, you have to be mindful of the "gold plated" part of the iron since certain ones are really made out of material that can wear off and create hot spots in the exposed areas of the iron. I use Tressemme's heat protectant spray.
For any black women reading this, I swear by the Beatiful Textures kit since I refuse to relax my hair but want to wear it straight sometimes. It just rained yesterday and I didn't have so much as a stray brochure to cover my head with but my hair is still straight. When I wash my hair it goes back to it's tangly, frizzy bullshit. Love that freggin kit.
