Since I moved to the LA area I've been trying to start dancing again without any success. There aren't many topless clubs to choose from and I also don't want to work in some dive in some unsafe neighborhood. I auditioned at 2 places and got rejected at both. For the first one the reason was that they wanted high level of pole skills which I don't posses but I can understand this,so whatever.
However the second place really surprised me. They didn't require high level of pole skills, while I was waiting to audition I watched 3 of their girls on the stage I didn't do anything more than I normally do but I still didn't get hired. I couldn't believe it. While I was waiting I saw many of the girls and 70 percent of those I saw l
didn't look better than me-neither face nor body or outfit. Some of them were wearing swimwear, others cheap and unflattering lingerie. There were even a few that were out of shape(flabby midsection etc). I believe I did well on the stage. Another girl that auditioned with me didn't get hired either but she did really bad on the stage, but she looked better than the girls that they currently had as well. It was a Friday night so they were supposed to have a decent selection.
I am 24 years old, 5'7, 115 lbs, almost waist length hair(no extensions),no tattoos. I know I am not old at 24 but people normally assume I am even younger than that.
The manager said that they weren't hiring right now because it was really slow. But then why would they let people audition? The only other reason that comes to mind is that when I talked to him before auditioning he asked me how far of a drive I live and when I said almost an hour he didn't seem to like that response.
I just really don't have any experience with being rejected by clubs. I have danced in Austin and San Francisco before, I was making really good money. That's really new and unpleasant for me.
When I was leaving the club the security guy in front of the club asked how it went and he looked really surprised when I told him that I didn't get hired. He looked like he thought I was joking.
Has anyone had similar experiences?
