Default How successful is the “gothic stripper” persona?

I want to change up my stripper persona to be more like these HOT strippers that I follow on IG which are all witchy and bad ass. I want to start dancing to death metal and doing heavier makeup. I already have the long dark hair. There is nobody like this in my current club. In fact my club is in the middle of central California and 90% Latina girls and rap music. So idk how this will go down.

Haha you might be working at my first home club.

I never recommend the goth stripper look but it is trendy!

Really? What club?! Or city? And can you tell me why you wouldn’t recommend?

If you're the only girl with that look in a big enough club and have a strong hustle you should be able to rock it.

The problem is though if you "niche" yourself, your earnings become basically big $$$ from guys who like that niche, but nothing from customers who are turned off by that look. I work with a really gothy girl at my home club and she has a big fan base and is stunning, but a lot of guys aren't into it.

I'd suggest edging in that direction and see how it goes. Maybe start dancing to more metal with your current look, slowly bring in heavier makeup and more hardcore outfits before you full on commit to it.

Also remember there are a shit ton of IG strippers who look great and have lots of followers but don't make shit. We've all worked with girls who really stunt on social media with flashy shit but are panicking to get bills paid every month.

^^Too true! A niche can distinguish you in a huge high traffic club and sink you on slow nights.

Have fun with that. I did the goth thing for years until I got bored of it. As a novelty it's fine. As a sustainable long term look I wouldn't advise it unless it's "PC" goth. That's mostly what I do these days if I do it at all. Black lingerie, red lipstick and Marilyn Manson is as edgy as I get.

other girls like the dark witchy thing way more than guys do

speaking from experience cause I used to have piercings and purple hair and wear lots of black and dance to weird music because that's more my style but I have a way easier time now that I go for more of a barbie look. if you're hot enough you can do whatever you want but I don't think it's gonna do you any favors in the club

I have worked with a few girls that did it but I agree with others it is more of a niche. Why don't you try it for a few shifts and see how it goes. The customers with the exception of your regulars really aren't paying that much attention.

I'll just speak my mind.... unfortunately the goth look attracts weirdoes & male drama queens. I have a naturally gothy look so I don't add to it. I've also had regulars threaten suicide... follow me around the club...or start stalking. The dark side of obsessive customers is they take the feelings home with them in the club. If you want to avoid freaks...don't favor the goth look.

Yeah seconded all of the above. You can walk the line and do fine depending on your overall look but I wouldn't do leather or black lipstick.

I err on that side of things with black stockings and chokers but I do glam makeup and keep long curled hair so it's still very stereotypical stripper. Even then I still get kinda shunned by stage tippers on weekend nights. It's a look more suited for the one on one hustle or weekdays given the current trend ITC of booty twerking and such.

When you have huge fake tits you can get away with anything, save kicking puppies and mass genocide.

The more typical stripper you look ie Barbie , the easier it will be. You always have to have your hustle down, but I noticed the difference when I had that look, ie guys would say "your skinny and blonde lets go" it was a much easier sell. Im not saying you have to be blonde but having the typical hot look helps a lot.

I'm probably going to piss people off by saying this but someone who over-does the Goth look tends to either be wrapped up in his or her reality OR is advertising some serious mental issues, & not just shopping at one store too much (Hot Topic.)

More importantly, men who really go for "The Goth Godess" look (think peak Amy Lee) have deep deep problems. Due to the nature of the sex industry, many feel entitled to do/say really inappropriate things to "The Goth Godess".....This can be more drama than you ever bargained for...

(Comic footnote- this social phenomena has evolved into the "weeb"/ Japanophile person, which is just as awful as the crazy acolyte of Goth women.)

I will agree that if you get too niche you narrow your market/customer base, same goes for girls with big fake tits too.. plenty of guys want ass and are turned off by that, so you're very much in a niche if you are overdone and plastic just like if you are more alternative. Id say the 'Victoria Secret' model look sells the best... although I think maybe having long platinum blonde hair but dark lips and all black would be super sexy, and it'd add contrast to the goth thing. So maybe try it in that realm, like a softer goth.

There is a girl at my club named Salem, and she does well on stage it seems.. but she always dances to Manson and seriously hardrock and especially Manson fucking KILL my stage money... so I always ask to avoid going on stage the same time as her because although the few that tip her well like her style; my customers do not lol.

But bottom line is I think your look should be a reflection of who you make the most money from. It honestly shouldn't just be about your own personal quest for self-expression, you're there to make MONEY, not have an existential crisis and get wrapped up in your own ego.

Honestly, you are reading way too much into the goth look. It's just a type of style. Why conflate the goth look with mental health problems? That's judgemental and prejudiced.

Idk I tend to agree with SnuffleUffleGrass. It's not the girls who look Goth that have "issues", it's the customers that tend to fetishize them.

Like I know maybe two dancers out of all the ones that I have worked with that have restraining orders against one custie, Goth dancer has a STACK. Like multiple customers who have gone full on stalker. She's the only girl I've known who has had a jealous regular literally attempt to light her car on fire in the club parking lot. She has some great customers too, don't get me wrong, but a disproportionate number of the guys that really like her are odd and unsettling. Like we've all had a regular that struggled with boundaries and reality, but for her to have customers go sideways and make death/suicide threats etc is common. And I know her pretty well, she's not doing anything differently than the rest of us regarding treatment of regs- hers just seem really likely to be problematic.

I don't think its worth it. Most of the clubs I've worked at are similar to the one you describe working at and I've noticed that when we have "feature dancers" a lot of them are really niche-y and theme-y and the customers get bored and go get a dance from typical stripper long hair neon pink outfit girl or just leave the stage or go look for something else to do. Anything too much like a show or too specific with a whole theme and different music than what theyre used to just seems to put off a certain type of customer in my experience. But if you look good and the style you're going for doesn't take over you can have some fun with your look.

Last night was my first night dancing ever. I had black leather booty shorts and red fishnet top, pleaser lace up boots, dark eye makeup and red lips... didn't go over well haha. I got a lot more attention in my super basic neon bikini.

Some guys will think it's a turn on, more guys will find it a turn off. Just like real life. I go for an "edgy vixen" kinda look. I do a dark smokey eye most nights and I have a short haircut so I look different enough from the other girls that guys will turn their attention to me, but I don't wear all black. I also wouldn't go with heavy metal for your sets cos it'll drive people away. My best advice? Older men with big money always love classic rock.

I work at a total dive with maybe 6 girls being the most working in a night and the one VERY gothic girl seems to do ok. I have pale white skin platinum blonde long hair curvy and tats and do well too, even if I dance to hEAVY metal ha. I don’t know, I feel like if you are who you are and you feel sexy that’s all that matters because insecure ... not sexy.
I'm a fountain of blood in the shape of a girl.
