Default Quick Question about eyes/lighting for you girls.....

So, I am trying to get back into the habit of streaming longer hours on SM, however I have noticed that after an hour or so, my eyes fucking hurt from staring at the computer screen in combination with these lights....do any of you experience that? How do you battle that? Its seriously hindering my ability to stream like i need to. Just looking for advice/ideas

I have eye strain as well. When I turned my umbrella lights backwards (lightbulb side facing away) it helped, plus gave me a less harsh glow on camera.

The other lights in my room have lampshades and that helped too.
It's kinda hard to be turned on when you know your internet, utilities, etc don't accept dicks as a form of payment!

I use a white umbrella with a black sheer curtain thrown over it with my daylight video light bulbs.

it helps some to prevent headaches.

This. A lot of people in the tech field use night mode, because like us, they stare at a computer all day. It helps, but you still need to make sure you're spending time away from the computer and looking around the room. In addition to headaches from eye strain, your vision can get worse if you're staring at a computer 2 feet away from you all day.

Besides the absolute "get yourself umbrellas" advice )), I also reccomend you to invest in a high quality monitor. I have a super cheap monitor (bought it with $50 on Black friday last year), I never found useful to invest in one. But now I realise that the headaches in the past years, after I was sitting on cam lots of hours (including theese days), are caused by the poor quality of the monitor. So, my soon investment, even before a brand new pc, will be a good quality monitor. I've seen a lot, cuvred monitors, with good reviews in a $300- $500 price range. So I am gonna get one.
Because of same problems. My eyes start getting dizzy when I move my sight around the monitor, also, headaches. I don't want to spend money on doctors in the future, I better buy a good monitor ).

I never use the room light only, I must have other studio lights, I've noticed when my eye feel tired it because of lighting.

so I put more light in the room. then a walk around the apartment helps. sometimes a quick walk outside my building.

    Then back to work again.

It is much better to invest in better lights then just some basic lamp you have.

Studio lights, blackout curtains. and zero daylight in my cam room as possible.

I don't know if this is your issue, but when I've experienced this I've noticed a correlation with my eye make up. I used to do lashes, eyeliner, mascara, eye shadow, the works. My eyes would get so tired and sore after a while. Now I only wear mascara and I feel so much better. It's still not quite as comfortable as no eye make up, but I can cam 8+ hours without it bothering me too much.

There's one in the chrome app store I just started using and it really does make a difference

i find that the further the light is from me the better my eyes feel. so i use 3-4 bulbs in pole lamps across the room. pole lamps because anything eye level irritates my eyes after awhile.

try making the chat font bigger and dimming ur monitor if you can as well

I also dim the brightness of my screen too which helps.
