So thus far in my dancing career I've auditioned at 4 clubs total, and have only been hired at one, my current club. I haven't been doing too well there so I've been trying to get hired at another club with no luck. Auditioned at one WV club, they said they'd let me know, never got a call back. Auditioned at another WV club, they said I was good to go, took a photo of me and said they'd be in touch, never got a call back. Applied/Interviewed at Scores in Baltimore, said they'd call me in a few days to let me know about my schedule and start me on dayshift, never got a call back. I didn't have my hopes too high for Scores since I'm sure they are choosy about who they hire, so I'm not surprised.
But reading posts here make it sound like it's usually not too difficult to change clubs but I can't seem to get in anywhere. What am I doing wrong? I go in to each audition stage ready with my hair and makeup done. I'm 5'1 120lbs. I am not skilled on the pole but I know a few basic spins. Not a great dancer but I'm not totally tragic either. I'm told I have a pretty face and a nice figure. I'm also black and medium-skinned (not very dark but not light either), so I'm sure that limits me in some aspects but I wouldn't think I'd have this much trouble finding a club to hire me.
I live in Western MD so since it looks like Scores isn't going to work out, I'm thinking of going back and re-auditioning at one of the WV clubs that is closer to where I live. Can anyone offer any tips for auditioning again at the same club that turned you down previously?
