Question Girls who are into fitness/lifting?!

I really want to get into lifting weights to build a thicker physic, get that squat booty and improve my cardiovascular strength as well.
I am 5’2 109 lbs. The thing is I CANNOT do one proper push up!! Like I can’t lower my body my arms collapse!!! I have always been the small weakling but I want to change.
My goals are: Be able to do sets of push ups and pull ups, be able to run a mile or 2 in a decent time, and get into lifting weights.
My questions are: How do I start lifting weights being as weak as I am? What’s a good workout regiment until I’m ready to start picking up weights and what is your gym schedule? As in, what days do you hit legs, arms, back, abs, etc.

Ps don’t mention personal trainers because back in 2015 I hired one and was I feel scammed out of $300 nothing he did helped! I want to do it on my own

Start with the weight machines, I'd leave off the free weights if you can't do a push-up yet. Just for safety.

I always start with cardio (15-25 min) , you can do starmaster or put the treadmill at the highest incline to reallynwork your muscles as well. I like doing HIIT with those two.
Then I'll do legs/butt/abs one day and on the days I'm not sore I'll do arms and chest. I just follow the lead of my body

You have to build up your arm muscle. Go to a gym and ask for a trainer to help you just to make sure your form is right and you don't hurt yourself with weights. Also try to do push ups regularly, get onto your knees and do push ups and eventually you'll be able to do one. This is how I did it and now I can do about 50. I was able to do push ups and shortly after had enough strength to do pull ups but I never was able to do more than 5 at once.

Just start with really light weights.

There's a ton of great beginner routines on sites like bodybuilding.com

Don't be shy about only being able to do light things to start with, we all started somewhere. There's no reason to not jump in with weights right off the bat, if 5lbs or whatever is all you can use for an exercise at first just do that until it gets too light.

To just start, 3 or 4x a week doing whole body (1 or 2 exercises per body part) or an upper/lower, or push/pull roitine is best. Once you get used to that you can add more days. Your body needs days off to build muscle, jumping in with too much too soon is a great way to end up injured/not see good progress.

You can try a home workout program like "Body Revolution" of Jillian Michaels or some FitnessBlender workouts.
They help a lot and also, helps you build the strengh (I workout home, Idk what to advise you when it comes to a proper gym).
The thing is that, I was in exactly same situation. I couldn't have done a pushup without having my arms getting "noodles" and fall on my belly.
You have to start with doing push ups on your knees, first. And start with light weights and then increase the weight, gradually.

This one, above, is an example of a half push up. This is how I started and now I can do full push ups!

If you're not able to do a full push up, start from the upright push up position, and hold that position as long as you can, and let your body down slowly.

    Something like this:

The same for pull ups. Use a chair to get into the up position, and hold yourself there as long as you can, and let yourself down as slowly as you can.

You will have to go on a slight calorie surplus to build any muscle and it takes a very long time for women to build muscle in the first place. Legs and booty built faster for me, but genetically, the women on my mom's side have bigger legs and butt. I was cursed with chicken legs until I changed that with weight training though.

In about 3 months, you should start seeing the changes. Some might see it sooner, but like I said, it is very difficult for women to build muscle the way men can.

I am too shy to go to the gym, so I bought Powerblock adjustable dumbbells, which should last me a lifetime. They were like $400 something when I bought them, but it was worth it.

For mass building, you want to lift higher weights with lower reps, (6 - . For toning, you want to lift lighter weights with more reps, which would be 10-15 or so.

I like FitnessBlender videos, but all the cardio in them is not good when you need the extra calories to build muscle. So usually I don't do the cardio parts, and also do lower reps than the videos show with higher weights.

You don't have to do a full-push up to begin with. Knee push ups can still be effective until you get stronger.

I used to be really fit in youth & now in mid life I have a bit of Pudge over my awesome muscle. The thing about aging is you have to work harder to maintain a figure that came easily in your early 20s.

Get a good gym membership & use it! Lift weights ..work the machine circuit! You have to identify as a gym rat to approach the fitness levels of popular fitness celebrities.

I've actually been thinking about this lately because well I have been working out on and off for about 10 years, my husband only just started working out seriously. He tried it once before, but apparently is for was bad even then. I am trying to go slow and teach him how to work out now without hurting himself. I started with Blogilates and stand by them as a great starting point and great workout in general. It's a great way to be able to watch and learn form, so that you can try to avoid hurting yourself. If you get a trainer I think that is the primary reason that you should use them for. Is very important to learn form early on so you do not hurt yourself in the long term. After that I would move on and try Jim Stoppani's Shortcut To Shred. It's a good workout with weights and cardio and you can adjust it depending on your level. At the moment I do not do all of the cardio and sometimes I switch out exercises because I do it from home and do not have all of the equipment. You can access it by using the Wayback machine or paying on bodybuilding.com. For that matter bodybuilding.com is a great reference for different exercises. They have a library of them with video and written explanation on how to do the different exercises.

As for protein drink I really really love https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It dissolves well and is low carb in case you decide to try a keto diet. Oh and it tastes good enough to be able to flavor ice cream. Really good stuff.

    Best of luck!
