Let's talk Stars Wars movies. I would like to stay with Episodes 4 and above, but if you have some good insight on Episodes 1 - 3 okay.

<Spoilers obv>
The last jedi tried something unique (for a movie at least) it attempted to deconstruct the force, I really enjoyed what Luke was trying to say maybe the Jedi are not good people, not to mention one tantrum away from being tyrannical monsters.

Just a few rambling, disjointed thoughts...
"Last Jedi" is one of the very few times I've seen a blockbuster movie close to opening day. I just knew I'd get spoiled if I didn't.
The crowd loved it and cheered at the end and even louder for the Carrie Fisher dedication.
My theater had souvenir popcorn buckets shaped like Chewbacca and a Stormtrooper but I wasn't paying $15. Maybe for R2. I'm mean, he's already a bucket!
I was afraid the porgs would be annoying, but I liked them. Their reaction to Chewie eating one...
Glad that Rey isn't related to Luke or Obi-Wan or anyone else. So much for the thousands of YouTube videos "proving" who her parents were.
And there was almost as much speculation as to who Snoke was. A clone of Palpatine? That Plagueis guy? No, he's just dead.
Yoda!
Luke and Leia's reunion and final scene together...
Finn's last line to Phasma was great, but I was hoping to see a little more of her face.
I knew Luke would die eventually, but I was sure it would happen in Ep. 9. He'll be a Force Ghost, definitely.

Oh, and when Luke used the term "laser sword." Loved it.

I agree that this was the final message that it can be accessed by everyone, but look at it from Luke's point of view he was arguing that the force just creates tyrants (Palpetine, Snoke) and the Jedi sometimes trains them (Vader, Kylo) he was literally the exception to the rule, the last one left because they all turned or died.I saw it more as redefining the Force. It makes the Force more available to everyone.

I haven’t seen it, but a lot of my friends hated it. Just got back to US so I’ll see it soon.
Where Am I? Missing NYC

^^ The only part I really didn't like was the casino planet. it looked like something from the prequels. Although Mark Hamill was apparently in disguise as an alien playing the slot machines.
Also: The death of Admiral Akbar! I loved that guy way before he was a meme. Should still have the action figure around here somewhere...
boo boo~~~ boo star war boo~

I like being alone, I just don't like being lonely.

blah!!!

Love the series despite its being aimed at 10 year old mentality. The very worst bits being Imperial Stormtroopers being taken out by teddy bears with sticks. Then the guy finding a light sabre and despite having no training whatsoever, kicking the ass of a highly trained Master of the Dark Side with ease.
What's the point of renouncing all ties to your family & humanity, wearing weird masks, etc., if any random dipshit can beat the shit out of you?
But the special effects are always enjoyable. I liked the darker aspect of the last one, too.

A little spendy, but I'd really like the R2-D2.
I imagine my cats would each have a different reaction 1) Run 2) Ignore 3) Make friends 4) Destroy.

I liked it. I realize now that I really like the revolutionary aspect to Star Wars. Because of that, Rocue One is still my favorite. One thing I will say is that the dialogue could use some work. Some of the lines feel like they come from bad old Westerns. I really can’t imagine Obi Wan Kenobi’s last line of dialogue being “See you around, Kid.”

More than anything else it was Luke. I just felt like he had too many comedic one liners for a Jedi master. Like when Rae says she’s from Jakku, they trade comedy for character building when Luke says “That is the middle of nowhere.” It didn’t have the same gravitas that other Jedi masters in previous movies did, even Yoda. That being said, watching Luke become one with the force sent chills down my spine.

Okay, I know what you mean. TBH, I never got that Luke was great Jedi. Yes, he trained by the Yoda, but he was old for training. And at the time, he was last known Jedi. If Vader hadn't turned in ep 6, Luke would have died. And it sounds like things sent down from there for Luke. I get a stronger Jedi vibe from Rey. I still think that Rey is Kylo's sister or Luke's daughter.

I do think they made Rey more complex, and showed that she’s both extremely powerful and more fallible. I like the idea more if she comes up from nothing, like the democratization of the force with less emphasis on bloodlines...or emphasizing that the power hungry dark side adheres to and manipulates family lines while the light side can come from anywhere.

I wasn't too sure about Luke's comedic lightsaber toss or the green milk scene, but I think they were referencing when Luke first met Yoda. Might have been less of an act with Luke though.
On a more horrifying note, the actress who plays Rose has been subjected to racist trolling.

Brilliant.

Wow! That was really good.
