I didn't notice that, but that's a nice little touch.
Look up The Fisher King. The mythic concept is a good analogy for Luke's entire arc in this movie. Luke's arc is pretty close to the Arthurian myth with the Fisher King and the Dolorous Stroke, with Kylo Ren perhaps taking on the role of Sir Balin who "ignores an "unearthly voice" warning him off and strikes the king when he is deprived of his weapon and thinks his stroke is 'justified'. Once the dolorous stroke has been delivered, the Fisher King is so wounded that the land falls into a sickness.
Maybe reading too much into it, but George Lucas was into Joseph Campbell's "hero with 1,000 faces" and based Star Wars off of it. Kathleen Kennedy, current head of Lucasfilms, was there for most of it. If i was doing it, i'd be looking at myth.

True ...in high school my teacher used Star Wars in our English Literature class to illustrate the Hero's Journey archetype. Comically this was the mid 1990s so a lot of people were sick of Star Wars & a few students were straight up pissed off they had to sit through the original trilogy.
Sorry for the brief thread jack, but as Sci-Fi fans this may be relevant to your interests as the meme would say. There is a STAR TREK movie marathon

this weekend on the STARZ ENCORE channel starting Saturday at 12:00 AM I think (but check your times). Hmm...
maybe someone (with the "shocking" name
) may want to start a separate thread for those movies.

I actually watched the last one without seeing the one before. After watching it, I wasn't tempted to go back and watch the one I missed. It was okay, but just okay.
