Default Seeking a Houston pole instructor

Hi! I’m 21 & live in Houston & have been doing a lot of research because I plan on dancing soon. Through these forums & youtubes videos I’ve learned a lot! I think I’m ready I just want to know a couple of tricks, floor moves, & just basic ways to move my body before I head into the club. I know pole tricks aren’t necessary but I would still like to learn a few to help me feel a little more comfortable. There are several pole instruction classes here but they are not “urban” which is the style of class I’m looking for & teach moves & floor work I’m not so interested in. If there are any 1 on 1 pole instruction classes or instructors please reply!

not houston based but I doubt you will find what you're looking for. Most pole classes focus on housewife type shit trying to feel sexy, athletic purposes only, or bachelorette parties posing with a pole. MANY pole studios are actually very anti-sex work IME and act like pole dance is this pure physical sport with 0 sexual connotations, completely separate from actual stripping. They try to deny that stripping is where pole fitness was born. This forum has an instructional video thread that has some resources for basic floor work and lapdances; beyond that, you really just have to go to work and try. You're young, you're new, you can be a little shy; guys eat that shit up in the beginning, then when it wears off you'll have been at work long enough to figure out how to move. Work day shifts if you can and practice!

    Hi!
So I live in Houston too, and I just got a job at a strip club but I've never danced before and am super nervous. I've read everywhere that making friends isn't super easy while working at a strip club but I thought maybe if you're new as well we could possibly get to know each other?
I was hoping to take a few pole classes before I actually dance as well. Maybe we could find one to go to together (sorry not trying to sound clingy or anything but Im super desperate for a friend cause I'm not only new to dancing but I'm also new to Houston)
Let me know if you have any interest. I know this whole process would definitely be a lot less scary if I had someone to do it with.
