    Duh Learning the pole

Hey so I have started dancing a few months now my club isn’t stage sets it’s more accepting drinks off customers and private dances there is only 2 girls who can do moves on the pole when the club is dead. The rest of the girls mainly just walk around the piles and jump the floor I find it hard lifting myself on the pole and atm can only do fireman spins and climbs any tips on how I can strengthen myself to be able to do inverts? Dancing is different in my country I was wondering where you guys are from is being amazing on the pole a must to do the job sometimes I feel silly when my song comes on and I can’t invert

For the vast majority of clubs stage doesn't really matter. There's urban clubs and still a few stage-centric clubs out there where stage money is a big deal but for the most part it's about selling dances.

Keep practicing when it's dead. There's lots of youtube videos you can watch. Honestly you don't have to be that strong to do a basic invert, it's more just feeling comfortable tipping your hips back and grabbing the pole with your legs. Start really low on the pole (can even practice the movement basically lying on the ground) and move up the pole as you feel comfortable doing so.

You can also start doing weights at the gym- a good full body 5x5 program (just google, lots out there) helps you get strong and burns loads of cals but won't get you huge (unless you start eating like a powerlifter). When your bodyweight is light to you most pole moves become very easy once you have the grip down.

How is dancing in Ireland? I’ve always wanted to visit there!
I suggest you buy a pole and assemble it in your living room or a spacey room in your house. They are not terribly expensive, you can get a good one for under $100 online.
There are tons of YouTube tutorials on basic pole moves. Do you have any pole classes around you?
Watch a lot of pole dancing videos and do your best to copy them.
Also work out at the gym often, build your upper, lower, and ab strength.

If you can climb the pole it'll be a short time til you can do inverts, it's just a matter developing those muscles as we tend not to use our upper body as much. I wouldn't worry so much about the actual "tricks" as making sure that your dancing looks fluid and graceful.

I learned how to do pole tricks by getting a pole DVD and installing a pole in my room. It took me a couple days to learn how to invert. You could also try watching YouTube videos and then practicing at work.

Thank you all for your replies much appreciated I had a portable pink peekaboo pole in my room have it about 10 years I practice my body rolls and hip movements on it it tends to fly off the ceiling whenever I spin or climb so I’m gonna invest in a x pole sport so I can start practicing my inverts safely

I just got an xpole for christmas and it is so worth the money. Even when my large male friends play on it it doesnt budge. I highly recommend it.

I second getting an x-pole. Also see if there are any classes nearby. Classes are incredibly helpful; the best way to get strong enough for pole is by DOING pole!! Youtube videos are great once you get the basics. I think it's very helpful to have a teacher make in-the-moment corrections for you when you are having trouble with a move.

Did you already have decent upper body strength before you were able to invert?
