I would marry her precisely because she was a woman. Strippers or any other women appeal to me because of who they are. I even have spent time with strippers whose looks didn't appeal to me but had something special about them that went beyond looks. Any woman I've ever dated it never nattered to me if they gained pounds, or had a bad hair day.

His story is actually a familiar one. I have seen it play out over before. He thought he married what was actually presented in front of him but in actuality there was hidden baggage.

How is it that before people buy homes, cars, or even to hire an individual all want background checks but with relationships you're expected to go into it blind.

Regardless of gender if you're planning on getting serious with someone and starting a family your partner should be told if sex work was involved in the past and to what extent.

It's easy for you to criticize this guy because you're not in his shoes but how would you like it if the mother of your child and your wife had a secret life she didn't tell you about? It's not even just about sex work it could be 200k in student loans and unpaid credit card bills that was kept hidden how would you like that? Still going to be loyal?

I know I'm responding to something that was posted in my direction 9 months ago but somehow I missed this before.

The comparison of her sex work past vs. hiding massive debt that has real and serious financial ramifications to me as her spouse is ridiculous. I have no right to a forensic analysis of every decision she ever made and action she ever took before we met and the same holds true in reverse. Unless it has a direct bearing on our current relationship then it's her prerogative to leave her past in the past.

And yes, I would still be loyal to the mother of my children if she sprung a financial mess on me. I'd no doubt be pissed for a while, but there is no universe in which I cut her loose just because she made financial mistakes and hid them from me out of embarrassment or shame. As most dancers reading this know, this issue is complicated. Dancing for a living on a long-term basis is a serious choice with real consequences for romantic and other personal relationships. Even today, a certain % of the guys who these girls would actually want are going to struggle with this. I wonder whether a thread that swings between highlighting this reality and making light of it shouldn't have died a long time ago.

Sure there's many guys that balk at the prospect and many guys who think being open to it make them special. Both offer little value. I once knew a girl that was a Dancer (this was a long time ago, I was a kid, well not a Kid Kid, but a Teenager) she was a bit older than me (I don't remember how much). She didn't do anything with Customers, but she liked Nerds. That was her thing. I couldn't figure it out, but she was ALL OVER them. Normally you expect a hot girl to fawn all over some Football player, but she just dropped them all (and sometimes they got pissed about it). Honestly some dude that's gonna peak in College, and then I find him BAGGING MY GROCERIES, he has no place next to a guy that will actually be able to take care of her. She was smart. Nerds are actually better able. They have a future. And understand how lucky they are to have her.

Now, I'm not harshing on Football players (a lot of these dudes are actually pretty cool) but a lot of these people were someone you might want to have a dalliance with, but not a long term relationship. Most of them are not going anywhere. For many of them, this is the top of their life. It's all downhill from there.

Yeah, it would have to be a very unique and special type of Bond. Honest with each other, trustworthy, best friend/ team mate type of relationship. I’ve been in one before, and it wasn’t no problem at all. I never got upset or jealous because in reality, no one owns another person. We made it fun for each other, Real Love is very strong. Knowing someone’s business from the start also helps, would've been much tougher to be together had she not already been doing her thing when we fell for each other.
