So it took me forever to figure this out & it's harder than it looks ..........
* Coconut oil needs to be close to boiling hot to properly penetrate the driest parts of hair (ends.) The easiest way to do this is wrapping your long hair in plastic shopping bags, soaking the hair in the hot oil & rubber banding it all shut. If you want to make the heating during conditioning phase go faster wrap the wrapped hair in Saran wrap on top of your scalp.
* Running a hair dryer over your wrapped hair helps a lot too. It sounds like overkill but not if you have long hair.
* I have hair to the middle of my back & it fully absorbs a whole 8 OZ of coconut oil.
* To avoid scent clash I use White Rain coconut shampoo to remove the oil, it also foams up really well. (White Rain is cheap & available at Wal Mart, Dollar Tree or any given drugstore.)
* Before you wash out the oil wring some out if the strands & do a scalp massage with it.
* When rinsing scrub your neck & shoulders in the shower.
(Side note- I quit using olive oil as it didn't work for my hair type. Also olive oil is better for you in your food....Mediterreanian diet.)
