    Question Smashing Pumpkins: the Feud

So, what's up w/them? I guess they're going to tour, but not w/orig. bass player, D'Arcy?

This's but one of many articles^, I think BC's coming off as dick-ish.

    What do YOU think?

Well, Billy and D'arcy have intense beef since 1998. Yes, Billy has changed over the years because he grew disillusioned with modern music and pop culture. He was promoting Trump,Alex Jones, and fell in love with conspiracy theories. I would not say that he is apart of the Alt-right to me but he has became a pro-Trump Republican. However, D'arcy has not changed and she has every right to feel betrayed by Billy. Because he does not want her apart of his Smashing Pumpkins tour despite teasing her with an olive branch. Also, I feel that he is kind of poking fun at D'arcy with this The Spiritual Advisor character in his wrestling league. I mean she is wearing some of the same stuff that D'arcy wore from the Adore era in this video.

New tour announced. I honestly don't even know if i am interested. Corgan has gone insane, recently. Not coming to St Louis, anyway, but KC isn't far.

Considering she's one of the best bassists ever to draw a breath and was largely responsible for the unique sound they had it makes no sense. She also was a novelty, and her backing vocals lent a lot. I don't think they would have succeeded without her.

I'm repeating a lot of things I read a long time ago-

    * Billy Corgan did a LOT of drugs in youth, which can leave long term cognitive issues (like eating up crazy conspiracy theories)

    * D'Arcy apparently has struggled with drug addiction

    * Nobody likes reflecting on it but Billy Corgan apparently excluded a bunch of his band members from contributing to one of his bigger smash albums so there might be lingering resentment over him being in charge/control (that's kind of a common scenario in music though.)

My 2 cents- it would be lovely if they performed again. However there are a lot of old bands that just tour for $$$$. It's cool. The musicians have to resolve their own disputes amongst themselves.

Yes, I think D'Arcy mentioned BC 'might have a brain tumor' (joking on her part) because of some of his stuff..
Also, she mentioned he already went thru like 2 female bassists

I think it sucks when band members can't make music together over personal issues as well when one band member is gone it changes the band !! the bassist style defiantly added to their sound !!!hopefully both parties will jump off their high horses and just make a peace treaty !!

I'm not being trollish by pointing this out....this Pumpkins drama has nothing on the terrible Fate/ bad luck/weirdness visited on Pantera.

Re- the photo business...Keep in mind people like Billy Corgan (with extensive histories of drug abuse) have flawed judgment/ problems expressing "normal" social reactions. I seriously don't even want to see this photo in question.

Also to be honest a lot of entertainers with drug problems will never openly admit these issues (Lindsey Lohan is a perfect example of this.) Admitting addiction issues can often bar someone from getting work/contracts.

Like what? I've only heard the singer left them, then Dimebag Darryl (sp) died. That high D the singer does repeatedly in "I'm Broken" is amazing.

Ok I'm just going to come out and say this because I used to have friends in the music industry (this is right before everyone was losing money in the music biz & before Internet steamrolled the industry)-

    * There is nothing wrong with someone like Billy Corgan barring an unreliable employee/contractor from a tour. D'Arcy might be a nice person but that doesn't matter if she is not reliable. Billy might be an asshole but that's beside the point.

    * Especially now with a lot of "Vegas Headliner" types retiring, production companies want to get behind "known quantity" performers who will draw crowds & sell tickets. Believe it or not, a lot of the biggest names in music in 2018 still don't sell out their tours.

    * A lot of musicians are assholes, period. It's not surprising that so many strippers and models have the same horrifying stories to tell about Chad Kroger & John Mayer. You pay $200 a ticket for a quality show, not to hang out with a performer & ask them for a ride back to the hotel. You pay for your ticket, they do their f*cking job. That's how tours work....

edit to add- one of the Ramones was a mega-Republican type & it didn't stop them from being punk rock musical icons. No one in music will admit it but it does take a level of work ethic to get successful/have hit songs. Maintaining that success is another story....

Face it, they are musicians no rocket scientists.

Thank you. And this is exactly the point. WPC does not do drugs any longer. Fuck the guy doesnt even drink anymore! But D'Arcy is a whole other bag of fish! Even when SP was originally together she was not reliable also doing too many drugs and partying and then just became a recluse.

And yes she was a great bassist but most often when your listening to any of the recorded SP songs from back in the day that isnt D'Arcy you hear on bass its WPC because she, and the others, looking at you Jimmy, didnt show up in the mornings when they were suppose to record so WPC ended up playing all the instruments himself and laying the sounds all together!

Plus lets face it WPC is a genius! I mean a bonafide Genius in the music industry and Geniuses will always seem a bit strange to us normal people but he is also a very intelligent business man so if he didnt included D'Arcy in the reunion tour and then went quiet about it then you know it was because she went all bunny boiler and he doesnt want to do her a disservice by saying that cause he still respects her so he says nothing at all.

And while we are here WPC has had his falling out with also Jimmy and James and they are back on board for the comeback tour and Jimmy especially was a major drug addict that got him kick off the band while they were still together so you cant say that William is incapable of forgiving and forgetting. Especially when it comes to the all mighty dollar! I mean you dont have to scratch to far below the surface to see that $$ is WPC main goal in all this!

Do you think he is a good dad?? That is the more interesting question. I would have had his children in a heart beat (like you didnt already get that Im a huge fan). But I really do hope he is enjoying being a dad and I wish to God he would tour in Europe again. Probably no money in it though.
